Having purchased a pied a terre just south of Le Mans I am in the process of relocating a few essentials. Hopefully in the middle of April (although not yet confirmed) I will be doing a run down with a car trailer to take down my lawn mower. The trailer is a CT177 Ifor Williams so a good size, and I will be returning to the UK via the Peage and back up to Aberdeenshire. Now to me travelling with an empty trailer is a waste so if anyone has a car they need to return to the UK for a consideration towards costs, get in touch.

As it is a 1000 mile journey each way obviously I do not want to travel more than a few miles off my route, but if you can get the car to Le Chatre then I can take it on. PM me if it is of any interest.

Sorry - don't need your service, but whereabouts are you? We're in Marcon, just east of Chateau du Loir smile

Hello neighbour! :-)

My place is just outside Lhomme, heading down there next week for a few days. Fancy a beer?

It's just a holiday home for us - which we don't use enough! We'll be over for May half term. It will obviously have to be the Hotel de France beer

Just west of Chateau du Loir for me.
Passed through Marcon and close to L'Homme this morning on the way back from St Calais mountain bike ride and walk.
Weather is good this week 18/22 and sunny

To you guys in the Loire.
I'm travelling from Calais to Noirmoutier and looking for a lunch stop off the A28, nr Lemans (but not in it)
Just somewhere pretty to stretch our legs and have some light lunch for an hour or so. I found Fresnay-Sur-Sarthe on google maps, any other suggestions?

Have a look in the Le Mans section, lots of suggestions for lunch stops on the way down.
Practically every small town will have a decent place for a simple lunch stop.
Half an hour south is Hotel de France in Charte sur Loir may be worth a diversion for PHer.

Oh gosh, we spent much time around there many years ago, when we went to Le Mans for 18 consecutive years and based ourselves at La Chartre. It is lovely all around there.

The man's right, you *have* to go to Hotel de France, La Chartre-sur-le-Loir. You just have to. Lovely restaurant, steeped in motorsport history, in a lovely square in a lovely (and quiet, outside of the 24 hours) part of France.

I haven't been since Mr Overington took it over though, but myself and some of my pals have got it down as a must-do-very-soon. smile

Sunday morning is very busy as its market day and one of the few tourist places on a Sunday.

Back home after an "interesting" trip! Two blow outs on the trailer on the way down, carry a spare so the last 10 miles were done on three and a flat! Impossible to find 155/70-12 trailer tyres around Le Mans so came home 1000 miles on three! No problems!

Weather was fantastic, hit 32 in our little corner on Wednesday, made painting the outside of the house hot work. The Hotel de France is as good as ever, if not better. What is one of my favourite places is great to have as the local.

If we ever end up in France at the same time, we will have to organise a meet up!

You're not talking about La Chartre as that's Thursday (and an awful market) and not CdL as that's Saturday.

Your right. Big Sunday market is La Fleche and by the cathedral in Le Mans

I'm really envious. Is Christophe still serving behind the bar at Hotel de France? And Bruno still a waiter? We got to know a Dutch chap in the years we went there, called Rinnus (sp?), he had a lovely place in the hills just NW of Ruillé-sur-Loir, he would normally call in at the bar there most days.

A very nice area of which we have very fond memories.

Ahhh, yes. Sunday mornings on the 'high street' are always busy - especially as the fishmongers is actually open then.
