With the price of materials it is often better to buy already done up/needing a lick of paint.

There's loads of online brokers. Apart from those already mentioned there's 1st for French property and Devin Immobilier.

Failing that, decide on where you want to buy and drive around all the local villages looking for private for sale signs. There'll probably be loads of them.

Would be willing to talk about our pad between Tours and Le Mans. Bit further north than you're thinking but much easier to get to hehe

Quite a few projects there.

This , all day long . And your local estate agents will be on the bones of their arses so haggle on their fees as well , they will if they sniff a sale .

Deciding where you might want to move in France is very difficult and depends on so many factors - and remember that the house market is pretty slow so that once you have made up your mind it may take a long time to move should you change it! This article might help. Don't expect to make any money with buying and selling (as you might do in the UK). Toulouse is a great area and rates highly as one of the happiest places to live - look here.

I had a look recently at the flight costs between Bordeau and Toulouse as I was thinking of popping back down there for a couple of weeks. The Toulouse flights were twice the price of flights to Bordeau.

Fly into Bergerac with Ryan Air or Fly Be,then a 2 hour drive to Toulouse. For me Bordeaux knocks Toulouse into a cocked hat as the better city.
We used to go to Toulouse alot for shopping etc.and now my kids go to school in Bordeaux, then again living near Bergerac doesn't have many down sides.
