As always my first piece of advice to people is speak to an accountant. When you do move over, don't muddle through, get somebody who knows the system to get you in the system. There is no lateral thinking with fonctionnaires, the box has to ticked.
Yup. Plan is to find one at next weekends french property show in London and see whats what.

Good advice there, in fact there are many companies who specialise in UK ex pats moving to France and I imagine that it will all come down to where you are deemed to be fiscally resident. Normally this is where you will be living (ie France) but there are exceptions.
In France you make a declaration in May on your previous years income and in September you receive the tax statement showing how much you are due. France does not yet have taxation at source and depending on who wins the election in May this may or may not change, as it is currently planned to introduce it in 2018.
Good Luck

I suspect that any company that can afford a pitch at one of these events is likely to have a fee structure beyond your needs.

You will see companies like Blevin-Franks writing in journals and websites like French Property News and French Entree. They will inevitable pose all sorts of problematic questions, without giving the answers. In reality they are touting for business.

A bit of simple advice and completion of a French tax return can be had for about £250p.a. Maybe quite a bit less.

I would suggest you try somewhere like Club95, as well

Thanks for the offer. I will take you up on it after we return from our weekend viewing properties when I will have a better idea of what to ask.

The show was quite good and got some answers to things I was unsure of like costs of swimming pool maintanence removal costs forward contracts etc

Well off on Friday 17th.

Got appointments to see one place in Courlay at 5pm Friday and 5 others on Saturday in and around Charroux/Civray.

Mildly excited.

Worked out the income tax side of things as well as health care costs.

Starting to look at cars to buy now :-)

Well......despite the best efforts of Eurotunnel we made it and have made and had accepted an offer on a house in Charroux Vienne (nr Civray)

Its a 1970's detached 4 bed house with large flat garden double garage and requires light freshening up.

Should all go through second week in April :-)

Ah well done. Less work the better. I am just off to Charroux to buy a secondhand chainsaw of a fellow Brit.

Give me a shout if you need any info etc.

Currently in Spain - watching the rain.

Enjoy your weekend. It will be June before I get to VdV with Delta. Very few organisers seem to be able to deal with the new management there.

Saw the signs to the track while being shown various properties.

Will definitely be paying it a visit when we move over.

Apparently a brit owns a garage in Charroux which may be useful

The Alpine Gordini club de la vienne. Is holding an open pit lane on the 11 March. Very civilized bunch with good numbers and a lunch.

Others are. Monster speed club. Chaps name is Bruno. Also Nanette racing club. They do A Saturday evening once a month in the summer months and hold a full day at the start of season and the end.
Monster speed also do the Bugatti track.

Yes the garage is owned and run by Andy Cole and his wife. He has a good reputation although it's a bit tight for space down there. He has been around for about 14 years or so and knows his way around the general French motoring system .

Welcome to France! We have been here full time since 2001. We have never had a mutual and have both been in hospital at different times for very minimal cost, quite why some of our friends seem to pay more than us I don't know but assume it is either because we are not especially rich and are both pensioners or because our friends were trying to hide something. We looked at specialist tax and investment advice and were somewhat surprised at how much they wanted to charge for it so I go to the Centre des Impots every year with a complete breakdown which they usually look at and say they are looking for the 'Grand Salaires'. You will have to declare to the tax authorities all your accounts and assets globally before you can get a Carte Vitale so I think it better to be completely open from the start, they will be more inclined to trust you then!
