Skiing in the Mid West

Hi all.

I'm on my way to Rotterdam on the ferry for New Year and want to come over to Germany for a bit of skiing with the kids.

I'm not looking for a top ski resort, just somewhere decent that will (probably) have snow. Have been looking at Winterberg as it seems only about 4 hours drive from Rotterdam, but can anyone recommend me anywhere else?

mmmm, well I'll be travelling from Rotterdam, so didn't really want more than say a 4-5 hour drive?
