I've seen a car I'm interested in but according to the advert (and google translate), the car has no German approval - would this cause a problem trying to export it to the UK?

Advert said:
They say emails cant be answered which could prove problematic as I dont speak German

So it's probably a US import? whatever they're saying there is no D-registration, no guarantee and mistakes are excepted.... I'd be wary of such a vehicle, especially previous ownership. Have you the possibility to get that checked? It could be stolen and trying to re-register it in D? Hope not....... E-mails can't be answered is very suspicious!!! Can you post the original advert? Seems the adversiser is not German, their german is abominable... Polish or russian? Then be CAREFUL!
You'll probably have to do a single vehicle inspection in GB which will be easier than Germany.

here is the original Ad

http://home.mobile.de/MRAUTOMOBILEKRAFTFAHRZEUGHAN...

One of the pics shows part of a sign in the background which says "Auto - Re...". A quick google of Hopsten + Auto Re brought up Auto Remke which has the same sign and looks like the same place in the pictures:

OK, I've looked at the ad. The fact that they don't have a landline and will only give details by phone is definitely iffy. I have a friend in Hopsten who I'll ring and ask him to give it the once over.
The vehicle is only being sold in the customers name, therefore you have NO comeback if anything's iffy. It won't pass the german registration, even an SVI, as it no longer has the original exhaust system, so there may have been a whole bunch of other EU-Illegal mods done.
ALSO there is no log of how many previous owners !?!?!?
I'll wait for a reply from my mate (another PHer) and I'll update you....

Jim, My PHer friend has called them and popped by. Apparently the car isn't even there, it's in Osnabrück and has been running on trade plates since it's been here. It has a damaged tailgate (dent), scratches, non standard exhaust and a few other worries. The advertiser is NOT the vendor, there is no vehicle history (owners or service), so you have NO guarantees.
He's doubtful if it'd pass the TüV even with a SVI, could possibly pass MOT in GB.... all seems quite iffy!!! I and my colleague advise AGAINST buying..... continue at your own risk!!!
