They're stronger than 9-5 pistons and rods, so they can allow you to increase the power to over the 320hp that's normally the rough stopping point for standard rods/pistons smile

Are the 9000 pistons forged? As well as my 9-5 Aero, I also have a TVR, and the higher powered Rover V8 engined cars, particularly the forced induction cars with over 400 bhp, tend to have forged pistons fitted.

It's not mine yet since I only put down a deposit today http://www.woodstoncarcentreltd.co.uk/used-cars/sa... . It's going to be sent off to have the Stability Control warning light investigated.

Your deposit obviously works as it comes up "page not found"

It works now. I added a space between the URL and the full stop.

They're not forged, just thicker than the ones in the newer engines. I believe (and stand to be corrected potentially) that the pistons in the 9-3 SS 2.8T V6 are forged as standard (but that is of course a completely different engine), but the pistons/rods in the B234 engine are just thicker and heavier than B235 items.

Very nice, I like the way the wagons still have the saloon lines around the rear 3/4 area, that picture shows it nicely!

I still haven't picked the car up yet. I rung the Trader this afternoon and it's having the brakes worked on at the moment, so I'm unsure when I'll get to pick u the car.

Nice!! What's the plans for this with the stronger pistons? Is that a b234/235 hybrid with the 9k's bottom end?

Managed to get a quick exhaust clip with some revs, still trying to get the missis to hold a camera to do a drive past though!! New paddle clutch & SMF is now bedded in and it's holding fine (so far!!) Just waiting on some new Bosch coils to go with new plugs, for these then I can get the thing on a dyno in Jan and see what stage 5 plus this 18t can get smile

laugh I'm still trying to work out how the TX gets that sound? Is it the silencers or something different in the resonator?

They do sound good, rare aswel!! How's the Hadlex on yours? I've read Thorney (VXR specialists) do an upgrade on the Insignias Hadlex, so should be good for big power/torque wink

TONS of potential with these V6 motors smile

I don't know, I wonder if the backboxes are different?

All the TX's certainly all sound the same, and it's a much more brutal noise than the normal V6s. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CddfSpZmCus - Yours now has way more bass, but still doesn't have the same raspy edge to it.

Looks like the TX has a 'rumble box' just before the silencers, but no middle resonator:

Here's my standard system, all changed now though and just a new 3" straight through from the turbo back bar a 3" resonator, but you can see the difference between the Aero & TX set up here:

I might give the rumble box a go if I can find a used one cheap enough and ditch my resonator (doubtful though as the TX is pretty rare!)

One of these days I'll get around to putting a larger downpipe on mine.

Makes a big difference budd especially with the right map to suit, probably looking around £500-550 for a custom 3" DP and Midpipe fitted.

Does yours drone at all cruising around 2k? I'm tempted to ditch this resonator and try and find the TX's rumble box, should sound a bit more mad then smile

Nope no drones.

For the moment I was thinking of sticking with the standard map and just dropping one of the £70 American DPs in.

I'd need to dig out the link again, but it was somewhere in the US. Granted you'd have vat and import on top of that, but I was planning on picking one up next time I'm stateside and just wanging it in the suitcase.
