My 95 aero heating/AC has a new and slightly baffling fault. With the AC on LOW cold air comes out the dash, yet the rear seat vents in the back of center consul blow red hot (full on swedish winter heat!). Anyone got any ideas whats up with it, or how to cure it?

I have no personal experience of it happening, but all the vents etc are controlled by blend doors etc. Perhaps the one to the rear vents has died open, so is venting hot air independent of the a/c unit.

First thing to do is do a self diagnostic test on the a/c. Start the engine and press the auto and off buttons on the AC control and release simultaneously.

The number of faults will be displayed on the left, and the fault code(s) on the right.

Report back!

Thanks for that, pressed and release OFF and AUTO, I get a 0 on the lefthand side of the AC display, and then on the next start up I get start engine to set ACC. What do I do next?

Have a look through here and read the lot to see if anything jumps out at you

It sounds like you might have a blend door motor driveshaft issue. They seem to think it is about an hour's work per motor, however I have no experience of this. Are you a DIYer?

Thanks for that, looks like I'm not getting an error code. I occasionally have to switch the engine off, take the key out and restart, to get warm air to come out any of the vents, somethings getting stuck, time to break out the screwdriver (probably closely followed by a BIG HAMMER!)
