Hi all.
We are thinking of getting shot of the a4 avant we have and getting a cab
Prob 2.0 manual 05,06,07
Something like that. Are they ok as a daily driver?
I sat in one yesterday and loved it.
It will be the main car as I have a van from work
I will treat roof as soon as I get it, but are they known for leaks or problems? Car will be left outside
I know they are chain driven, is it a reliable engine
Are they ok to live with daily

Mrs Roadster25 has had a 2006 1.8t (2.0 really) for about two years and she loves it. The boot is huge and we find it to be comfortable.
Currently at 91k, it has been pretty reliable - aside from oil, brakes, tyres etc we have only had to replace a spring and have just changed the battery. I treat the hood fairly regularly and it is showing no sign of leaking.
The back seat can be a bit cramped and remember that it is a four seater only. It isn't the sportiest of drives, but the 1.8t is ok if you don't expect too much from it. We get about 28 mpg, but we mostly drive around town.
The two extras I'd look out for are reversing sensors (it is quite big and rear visibility isn't brilliant) and the mesh wind deflector, which is well worth having.
I think they are a great bargain at the moment.

There are still places to get SAAB parts so I wouldn't let that put me off too much. They keys tend to fall apart with age, so there probably is nothing sinister going on.
Try finding out who the dealers near you were and giving them a call. Of the two local to us one has become an independent specialist (Bond Street SAAB in Leicester) and the other has become a Hyundai dealer but still carries SAAB parts. Neither local to you, I'll admit, but I'm sure there are others who are.

I bought this 54 plated one at the end of April for £3,200 (full service history/2 x key fobs/driver's handbooks etc):
After 8 weeks of ownership I am delighted with the Saab (my first).
He popped round in it, made me miss my last one, have to say, for 150 bhp it moves really rather well and the normal suspension and smaller wheels improve the ride no end, my Aero used to set my teeth on edge sometimes.
Remap takes it to 215 bhp or so, they changed the turbos on the ones with the updated interior, 2006 on so they can be tuned to produce more power than the earlier ones apparently, where can you get them done for £100 ? the BSR PPC I bought for mine was £600 or so ?

I tried it and it sounded way beter than the one in mine (2003), plus it didnt make the door cards rattle, think there was an amp in a cubby in the boot, unless it was some hood related malarkey. Hopefully the CD wont skip like the one in mine either. the dash controls seem to have faired better and didnt have that semi permanent rubber coating that falls off.Love the boot, can fit a Pizza in, as long as it isnt a Deep Pan.

Best thing to do is register with www.uksaabs and fire Saabnoob (Karl) a pm and he'll sort you out mate. No idea about the turbos on these but the remap should see a nice difference and take it to Aero performance.
