I have a 2007 Saab 9-3 1.8t which has 88k on the clock and not remapped or anything, all standard. This has been my second car for just over 12 months but I'm looking at saving some money and making it my only car. I have two niggling problems that I am interested in your advice on. Both noises:

1/ I get a very high pitched whine only under the following conditions - 5th gear, 70-80mph and off the throttle. If I even touch the throttle in the slightest, or dip the clutch it stops. It is very difficult to pinpoint where it comes from and I cannot re-create it in any other gear at the same revs etc. Initially I thought it was gearbox related but I wonder if it could be the turbo?

2/ This is only really noticeable in the winter or in colder weather. For the first 10-15 mins after a cold start I get a whirring noise. It is only related to road speed and not engine speed and is particularly noticeable when coming down to a stop. I wondered if it was the brakes, which aren't far off needing changing, but I also thought wheel bearing. What would that sound like?

Any advice very gratefully received!
