Hi all
I have a Saab 9-3 Tid 1.9 2010 with 35k on the clock.

Just recently I am getting a noise I think from the turbo that sounds like there is an ambulance with it's siren on in the distance.
It kind of gets louder as I accelerate then when I take my foot of the throttle to change gear it dies down then increases as I accelerate again.
It's louder when the car cold.

I have just had it serviced and I don't think the noise was there before the service.
Any ideas what it could be???

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy, definately sounds Turbo related, check all the plumbing and vacuum pipes around the turbo and injection systems in case one has popped off and allowing air out, the other thing to check is the exhaust/wastegate discharge pipe to make sure they don't have holes in

Mine did this on a 2002 93 TDI, passengers were constantly looking around for an ambulance! Simply Saab in Bristol looked at mine and said that it was likely that one of the "bits" in the turbo had been displaced slightly by debris, normally they are tuned so they don't whistle. They said it did not indicate that the turbo was failing and we agreed that whilst they could replace it I'd prefer to just turn the radio up!

Mine went for a good few years like it before the turbo finally detonated (it had done over 100k miles though).
