Wondering if you guys could help me a little?

I helped my brother buy a 2009 93 Aero TTID Automatic a few weeks ago.

We've been told the DPF was removed and then mapped for the removal by the previous owner.

He has been having a few issues recently, every so often it seems to stutter on start up and the main issue, it smokes quite a lot when accelerating, like proper big puff of black smoke.

I will ring to get it booked in at SaabTech after the bank holiday, however just wondering if you guys had any explanations?

Is it because of the DPF removal? He finds it quite embarrassing as it must annoy people driving behind him!

I'd be checking the EGR valve first

Ok thanks, I've read a little about that, I will get SaabTech to have a look.

I've also read the DPF removal makes them smoke? Is it best putting a new DPF on?

I've seen a few 'tuned' Fabia VRS' round here which have apparently had their dpf's removed, the smoke is horrendous!

The EGR failed on my 1.9 TiD, it didn't smoke at all prior to it failing or after it was replaced so I'd say it's more the lack of dpf causing it.
