Get on UK Saabs and search out Karl, who can "noobtune" your car for peanuts. 275BHP, 430nm, cost me about £70 a couple of years ago, lovely guy, very knowledgable and informative. Great fun. ETA should have said he's up Leicester way, iirc.thanks aerate, it had one fitted when i arrived and the service history is incredible, 10yrs same owner all serviced by SAAB specialist with FS oil, 110k miles, £900
straights away coverd 1000miles home, seats forward and tailgate shut! loaded with washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher
previous dog chariot / work horse was a 2005 V70 D5 with 220k miles on it.
so far the 1999 9-5 is equal in most areas but better (for me) in others.
comfort - same (superb)
ride - (better)
rattles and genral feel of build - better (though v70 had done 220k miles v 110k for 9-5)
power - same (as i think V70 had been chipped)
handling - better, far more sure footed especily in wet weather, again though, mileage and front tyres on way out with V70
economy - strange one this as the trip suggests 29mpg average v 42 for V70, something is amiss here because £70 in volvo = 390 miles covered, in 9-5 irt is exactly the same and here in france petrol is far more expensive than diesel, whichever the problem i'm happy to be spending more on fuel
stereo - equal but being this age means i get a cassette player which means i can insert the old cassette /, mp3 adaptor and i can play the ipod
cant get the service light to reset even with the info found on here, no biggy.
need to replace the tailgate strutts (on order)
fitted a twobar from Neo bros in london (very very easy)
look forward to driving it more than the Volvo tbh, its not exciting but far less jarring of rutted surfaces and liking the auto, seems to suit the type of car and driving far more.
I did contact Karl but we couldnt get together in time so might take him up on his post exchange service but tbh i'm not sure it wants for it, very helpfull guy though.

Had to drive from Swindon to Bromley and back the next day this week. M4/M3/M25. On the way there, it was reading 43mpg when I came off the M25. Dropped in traffic. By the time I got back to Swindon it was claiming 39mpg, which was an actual 38mpg when I filled it up.
That was cruise control set to 70 and deliberately economical driving in traffic. For a 13 year old 150k mile 250bhp barge the size and weight of the Saab, I think that's pretty bloody good!

Otolith always seemed to do better than we did. Seen 37ish once in a 65mpg run (because the sprog had dropped off and we were trying to extend sleep time).
Cruise speed was more usually started with an 8, and mpg usually just about started with a 3.
The replacement usually has mpg starting with a 2. Just...
