Advice on the 9-5 aero estate
Discussion
Picked 04 Aero up for £1900 notes two weeks ago.
It has a few little niggles. A very small oil weap on the cam cover, ABS rings need replacing and the rear washer is not working (which is now fixed). I have also done a full service on it.
Good points are it is relatively low mileage for a 9-5 Aero (100k with FSH up to 80k), is a manual and has had all the bushes on the front and rear subframes replaced (They are blue in colour so presume they are polys) and a new DI casette. It also has brand new Goodyears on the front and nearly new on the rears. Currently averaging 28mpg with the work commute + school run in the morning. I have so far just been cleaning it. Went over it once with the DA, put some new badges on the bonnet, boot and replaced the tatty hand brake and gear knob with nice new ones.
My only negative is that the gear linkage is not that impressive. Mine might be worn but when stepping into my GT-Four it feels like a precision instrument. Hopefully a short shift kit can improve it.

You done well there
Blue polybushes sound like PartsForSaab ones, the gear change can be improved a bit with a poly gearbox torque arm bush. Short shift kit (from JamSaab) is rated well but still they've not got the best gear change.
DI cassette is a result as well.

I think it's just not a very good shifter! Mine's cetainly vague as were the others I tried.
Where'd you get your gearknob from? Was it a ridiculous price?
Not genuine Saab but the quality is great and it fits perfect but more importantly it is a third of the price of the genuine item.Where'd you get your gearknob from? Was it a ridiculous price?
