There's quite a few SAAB lovers here who have experience in tweaking their portable sofas, so let's see what you guys recommend. There are a lot of different routes that can be taken but I'm interested to see what is individually important in getting the the best out of them.

It all depends on the model really.
But if a Petrol, then probably.

Remap, by one of the experts on UK Saabs. 300+ BHP for the price of a few pints.
SAS Bars, or Piggy Back Anti-roll bars.
A 3" Turbo downpipe. Who would have thought 1 pipe on its own could make so much difference.

Here's a pate of the mods of my car, taken from UK Saabs.

Here is a list of what I known has been done to my 1996 9000 Aero over the years.
This is the Aero which was featured in Fast Car magazine and the Saab Owners Club magazine some 5yrs ago.

1996 9000 Aero 2.3T (Imola Red), with standard engine & gearbox.

ENGINE:
Jules_HT Stage 3 remap, with T7 APC conversion. Pulling 1.5 Bar boost. (Later 20Mhz T5 ECU)
Abbott Racing 2.5" Downpipe.
Abbott Racing 2.5" De-CAT pipe.
Abbott Racing full 2.5" Stainless exhaust with 4" rear tailpipe.
Abbott Racing Turbo induction pipe with open air filter mounted inside left wing.
Forge Motorsport Open air dump valve.
Abbott Racing uprated Intercooler.
Abbott Racing Poly engine mounts.
Should be about 290-300bhp, but still returns a nice 31mpg average.

SUSPENSION:
Abbott Racing fully Polybushed suspension front and back.
Abbott Racing Lowering Springs and uprated shocks all round.
Abbott Racing PiggyBack Anti-Roll Bars.
Toyo T1R tyres all round.

INTERIOR:
Interior Lighting, and Door lights upgraded with 6000k LED bulbs for a crisp white light.
T5 Shift & Knock LED's fitted to Dash.
Headlights changed to DRL enabled, and light switch removed. Calibrated Boost Gauge fitted in its place.
Sony Xplod Bluetooth head unit, with Dashboard iPhone mount.
Saab Amplifier converted to work with a modern head unit.
Speakers all upgraded.
Twin 12" Sub box in boot with Amp and 2 Farad Capacitor.

EXTERIOR:
Abbott Racing Decals front and rear.
Number Plate Lights changed to 6000k LED.
Reversing sensors fitted into rear bumper.
Front Grill modified, Matt Black, with Alloy Mesh fitted from behind.
Fully undersealed front to back this summer.

That's it as far as I can think.
There is a staggering £8000 in invoices from Abbott Racing for this car. But most of that appears to be their labour charges !.
This car did have an Abbott ECU as well, but from the notes I have it only pulled 1.3 bar max and did so rather unreliably.
The new Remap I have from Jules_HT on a later 20mhz ECU is far better. More refined, higher boost, and better MPG in normal driving.

Depends on the car really...but smile

9000 Aero

GT28RS (stage 5 & imo quicker than stage 6 day to day driving) best 'fun stage' to be at, less lag just point & squirt smile Stage 3's cheap & cheerful and a nice place to be, stage 4 fair bit quicker but more money and not that much more power...so just go straight to 5 wink
T7 APC mod (nicer power delivery, very smooth, no fuss & cut down on wheel spin with the 28rs)
4.45 ratio box (it was mental!!! Hardly any turbo lag as its almost always on boost) 1st gears a joke, but boy could it get on boost early and shift!! (stage 4 with this box was 'almost' as quick as stage 5 with the 4.05 and MILES cheaper)

og9-3 vert

Steering rack clamp
6 point subframe brace
22mm rear ARB

^^^^all 3 required as a minimum to sort the handling, but fully pollybushed & decent springs/dampers also worth it. ££££ to sort the verts handling....

9-3ss V6 aero

JZW stage 1 map (stage 5 is mega bucks with everything required plus the updated clutch & diff, but it's insanely quick) Stage 1 is more than quick enough day to day. Same pace as a stage 5 9000 Aero.....for £450!!!
345 VXR brakes (HUGE improvement over standard....all v6 Aeros should have come with 345's, standard for on the TX)
3" turbo back straight through decated system. Very loud, too full on for a DD but still loads a fun. Sounds crazy on full chat!!

Bose Noise Cancelling headphones are the best upgrade.
It's s shame they didn't put in soundproofing, or spend any money on the interior. Could have been a good car..
