Hi All,

With a third baby on the way, i need to change my wife's current car (a very tired Rover 400 that she's being use as a stop gap for the last 6 months).

We've seen a silver 9-5 Aero on Autotrader complete with LPG.

My Dad used to run the 2.3t Vector 9-5s when they were new but should i be looking for these days? This particular car is on 99k miles. Is sludge still an issue on these (I vaguely recall this when I was looking at one many years ago).

If anyone knows the history on this car let me know

Cheers,
Phill

the pcv was upgraded from around late 03/04 so depends on the age of the car as to how much you want to chance it and leave the sump on. also, Aero's were specced with fully synthetic so correct servicing should have reduced the risk of sludge. i've dropped sumps immediately on '52 models but equally left alone on a '53 (although i could verify the history, it clearly had the later pcv and it was cheap so i rolled the dice)

the lpg i know nothing about but i did encounter a stage3 9-5 with it and at WOT/full boost it couldn't cope and switched to petrol
