To clarify we have 1 race now which will be on the Sunday afternoon with qualifying and free practice on the Saturday along with the Porsche Championship.

Here's the time table

http://www.silverstone.co.uk/Mobile/Events/Britcar...

A lot of hanging around as we won't be doing every session.

Yeah that was the info I was referring to last week when informed the Monoposto's were racing elsewhere.

Can't read "monoposto" without thinking of Postman Pat in black and white and dubbed into Italian!

I'll get me coat...

Wow. Just seen the timetable and seen that there really isn't much happening this year, which is a bit of a disappointment, especially now there is nothing on the Friday.

Does anyone know if there will be access onto the site on the Friday?

I hope so ,seeing the prices are for the weekend and more expensive than last year.

Have only just clocked the re-revised timetable and the fact that the Saturday evening race has been dropped and therefore as a consequence (by the looks of it) that all the Friday activity has also been dropped. Sadly looks like this year is going to be a bit of a disappointment.

The Silverstone website says that the gates open at 08:00 on Friday, and the tickets we have received have a Friday stub, but seems like there will not be anything race related to do other than hang around in the pits.

I guess this is the ongoing fallout from the censored miserable locals that resulted in the 24 hour race being dropped for this year in the 1st place, and the wider hassle that a lot of circuits are going through. Sad and short sighted state of affairs given the standing of this country on the motorsport/engineering world stage frown

They have testing on the Friday so will still be plenty of track action on Friday. Not ideal, but its something to watch.

Being realistic, can you really see teams testing for a day, two days before a 6 hr race. Friday will be quiet to say the least. The way the programme has been messed around with says it all.

Iirc it was down to cost of circuit hire and a low entry last year that saw the 24 dropped to 6 hr not opposition from the locals

Several times during his stints on the circuit radio station last year, James Tucker seemed to suggest that the fate of the 2013 24x7 was being determined through negotiations with the local parish council, driven by local concerns. He said at the time that it looked likely that the way opposition would be mitigated would be through an agreement to skip it for a year.

I don't know whether that was resolved and then the quantity of entries became the issue, but certainly this time last year, local concerns appeared to be a significant factor.

Anybody seen a CONFIRMED entry list yet ?

Story I heard over the weekend was just over 30, But JT says 50+

Good rule of thumb - take any figure JT quotes as entries / cars on the grid, and halve it - you won't be far off !!

The Spa Classic 6 hour event however, which is where I will be with Topcats this year, entries had to be in by Feb / March - the grid is packed out, plus reserves, and some people just plain did not get an entry !

Did we make the right choice to move away from Britcar ? scratchchin

I think Friday should be a good day for those who make it. No racing, but lots of testing.
The atmosphere will be much more relaxed and the teams will have time to let you have a good look at and poke around the cars.

Admittedly a full day of that might be a bit much...

Neil is saying that Topcats have moved away from Britcar, damn shame too.
When is mr Tucker going to realise this meeting cannot be run at the same time as Spa? So many potential entries lost.

The local opposition to the 24hr race came from Whittlebury Parish Council not Silverstone PC.
