Racing.GT are reporting that there will be no Britcar 24 hour this year due to a single noise complaint.

Now Mallory teaches us that there is always more that meets the eye where "noise" and "nimbyism" is concerned, however I cannot find any source of this, but there was a planning meeting for Silverstone Parish Council last Monday according to the planning minutes from November.

Will we ever have another 24hour car race in the British Isles again?

There's allot more to it than just noise I suspect. Fingers crossed it does happen though. Noise can be managed, some teams and car owners just need to get real about managing it from my experience!

Statement regarding the 24hour.

http://www.britcar24hr.co.uk/home/?p=4874

Interesting comment at the end that they will look for somewhere else to stage the race in 2015. As stated on the other thread that only leaves Snetterton or Anglessey although I do wonder whether they might also look at the new circuit in South Wales which I think should be operational by September 2015? It might be interesting to see if they mentioned 24 hour races in their planning application.

The following post, I guess rightly called me out for making impetuous remarks in this post. I certainly don't want to contribute to making the situation worse, so I will just get back in my box.

The real shame is people making unhelpful comments from a position of ignorance.

This sort of behaviour is only going to hurt the chances of the race being staged in the future. It's one thing to e mail your disappointment but does no favours whatsoever in getting the race back on. If anything they are as big a risk to the race as the NIMBY's.

It does make you wonder what they think they are going to achieve. A real shame and whoever they are they need to grow up a bit.

Fees will be finalised September, I'm told - waiting for Silverstone to decide how much they're going to charge.

I received an e-mail giving dates, Dunlop sponsoring (and providing tyres) the event with Sunoco being the fuel supplier.

I received the same e-mail just after posting and quote it below. We have registered our interests and fingers are crossed that it becomes official.

24 Hour Race Returns, Entries open Now.
21st October 2014.

Dear Sir/Madam,
We would like to bring to your attention some great news in the world of Endurance racing, and we would like to Invite 80 cars to the DUNLOP 24 Hour Race at Silverstone on its return to the Grand Prix circuit in 2015 on the Thursday to Sunday 23rd-26th April with GT3, GTE, GTC, GT4, LMP-SR & CN Sportscars, Touring cars and Diesels.
The iconic race is being supported for the first time by the world renowned tyre manufacturer Dunlop as a sponsor and the official tyre supplier. Race fuel supplier Sunoco will be appointed to supply a range of octane's from 99-102.
Worldwide television coverage of the race at Silverstone will be covered by Sky Sports Television, internet based live streaming and our old friends at Motors TV.
Sponsorship opportunities are available to all who may like TV cameras in the car, or interviews to enhance your sponsor's presence on the world stage. Streaming will also play a major role.
The 24hr Race at Silverstone is traditionally preceded by the infamous public walk-about with the drivers on the start line to indulge in the carnival atmosphere and we intend to give even more access to the public to the pits, with photo shoots and programme signing.
The timing of the Dunlop supported event, for the first time, comes at the beginning of the season, when all the teams have returned from the Middle and Far-East and America to start the European endurance season. The visiting teams and their guests all have the chance to use the Silverstone 500 Club to entertain your Sponsors and Guests with food and hospitality.
There will be plenty of off Track Entertainment will be around the event, with proposed live music, motorsport tyre competitions and the fun-fair. Day and night time qualifying takes place on the Friday, with the Dunlop 24hr Race at Silverstone starting on Saturday and finishing on Sunday at 15.30pm.
If you would like to be kept informed and are interested in participating in the event please click on the link below, so we have your details for the Dunlop 24 Hour Race at Silverstone 2015. We will then send you the race Information pack by email, with all the regulations, timetables, garage allocations, motor home parking plans, hotel and hospitality availability, costs and the benefits to help you organise your entry for this great event.
If you come back straight away with your interest, there are substantial incentives for the first 40 cars for early bird registration, with offers of discount with regard to early bird payments and free fuel. So click HERE, to receive the initial event entry paperwork and your deposit invoice.
Many Thanks
Sportingly

I wouldnt dream of doing this until there was a firm ruling on noise, the goalposts were moved during the night last time and effectively wrecked the race for alot of teams, our own included. There are no noise issues in Barca, warmer too!
