Why not add some proper sized rear tires for grip.?
From the outset I insisted that the original lotus form remained. This is important to me.

Yes, didn't really go with a bang, but on a downshift , Darren heard it instantly and shut off the power, luckily on a steep section and managed to coast all the way back to the trailer ! smile

are you going to use the same gearbox but with stronger parts?
or a complete stronger gearbox, different type?

and if you make the box stronger what would be the next weakest point, the axles? or can those handle it, are those originals or?

Shafts, bearings and cv's all seem up to the job, will be a standard case with different internals.

In my experience, gearkits are no stronger than stud stuff...

None of them get past the basic limitations in the std box, ie, shaft spacing, case rigidity/strength etc.

The 3rd and 4th gears are the weak points of the standard 6 speed gearbox.
are you getting something like those? they look stronger, less teeth and the teeth are thicker.
but up to 400nm thats probably enough for up to 350 or so elise/exige's but 500 turbo hap's could still be asking for it ?
how much nm does this set up from that car has now?

ah, around 300 nm, I was expecting a higher number, but guess I 'forgot' its a 4cill although with around 500hp so that works different then say a V8 with around that turbo hp power.

otherwise probably such E153 swap could be perhaps useful too, like this>

http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php...

what are they saying about the standard engine and gearbox (or was that only the engine) when you say supercharge it its good (it can hold) for around 300bhp? or can you stretch it to say 340<>360bhp
for road use and some track-days.

Again they are talking about the 2zz Toyota engine, not the Honda.

Really?

300nm = 225lbft

225lbft @9,000 rpm =385hp?
