I googled about some cool cars and ended up on this thread. Your build looked interesting, so I read your thread. I mentioned that I thought folks were being hard on your methods and driving skills, which I thought was unfair to you. You didnt respond... Which is your porogative. I also noticed you post progress, but don't share detail that may allow and inspire others to try what you do. Respectfully, why?

I admire your passion for DIY and respect those who think outside the box and build it. I've done nothing but compliment your build, and to help your fans better understand the processes your implementing. I didn't mention the fact that mixing two types of foam can make further steps challenging (speaking from experience), or comment on your craftsmanship. ;-)

Lastly, this thread didn't appear to be started by you, so your claim to this as your personal and private forum seems without merit. As for challenging someone to post their work, be careful what you wish for Frank. A comparison of our craftsmanship in this area may leave you somewhat humbled.

I'm not belittling your work by any means, and I enjoy respectful sharing of ideas on forums... but if you want a 'Frank's opinion only-type thread, start your own private blog or website where comments and questions are forbidden. Until then, you're on a public forum, which by definition means 'a public exchange of thoughts and ideas'

So cheers mate. I'm here to comment and share my thoughts, whether you accept them with respect or sputter like a drunken sailor. Either way... I'm ok with that. ;-)

Ok... Back to the subject at hand. Sculpting foam is actually quite easy and fun. However, different foams have different sanding rates. So as you smooth down a fender with sandpaper, lighter 2lb foam disappears faster than denser polystyrene foam, making the seam were they match up challenging to smooth. Not the end of the world, but easier to make a nice smooth fender with.

Never use a power sander except to remove material quickly. Even then, a serrated blade knife works much better on polyethylene foam and a hot knife or wire works best for polystyrene (or styrofoam).

OK... Keep going Frank. Love your build!

And those that chuck money at people are often the most ignorant.

Just sayin Frank.

So given your an expert how is this going to effect drag coefficents and downforce. How does the air flow over the car? Will the correct amount of air be channelled to the correct places?

Those that can do it well, teach. Those that are newbs, may be better served by exercising their ears vs. their mouths.

Frank, I never said anything negative about you car, and my positive comments did nothing but add to the context of your build. Since you have removed all your previous posts, packed up, and gone home... I'll take this opportunity to rise to your challenge to post an example of my work. As i said before, It is not my intent to hi-jack this thread, but since it is destined to die on the vine, no harm done... Right?

This is my 1700lb Lotus S1 being transformed from Elise to Elise GT Widebody. It is about 10-12" wider now with substantially better airflow design. While this picture is the PU foam, I'm just finishing the fiberglass now. Via Photoshop, I did add in the carbon fiber bits in the air ducts to get a feel for the new look. Still tweaking the shape and lines. It'll be 4-5 weeks before this thing rolls into the paint booth.

Once painted by Vecio's House of Kolor (show car premier painters), the car will have its existing Acura TSX 2.4L (K24) pulled and modified to Whipple twin screw supercharger and tranny dog box. May destroke and add a turbo next year (12,500 rpm), but haven't yet decided if I want to introduce the complexity and reliability issues that might go with that. My tuner's K series is 802whp, but he's done a couple to the low 900's to the wheels. If I did this, I'd add a RaceLogic traction control system for sure.

As they say the one that smelt it dealt it... What's the matter do you need attention for your little after school project in order to get a gold star ?

You can read my plate and it clearly says "CHUE ME" jack off.

Feel free to bring this over to www.Lotussport.org since I signed you in the other day and then we can chat without offending the peeps here.

Let's put this back in perspective. NOTHING was said to disparriage Frank or his car. I was legitimately on this thread to watch, learn, and post positive comments. At some point yesterday, Frank lashed out at me personally (unprovoked) to which many of his fans chastised his improper behavior.

Frank took his marbles, proclaiming he didn't want to play here anymore, removed his profane remarks (and his photos), and went home. Yes... a shame. I was enjoying his build too.

Lastly watching a thread and posting positive comments that add to the context of a thread is not trolling. If you believe it is, you're just wrong. I was a gentlemen. I was encouraging. I was sharing knowledge.

Lastly, we're all here to see cool cars, not massage an ego or tap dance around a man with severe issues when it relates to attitude, mutual respect, and downright class. I had never met Frank but I had recently read about his car. ( here). He obviously had heard and red about mine... and decided in advance he didn't want to be friends with someone equally capable building cool toys.

The only difference between Frank and I is I respect people, try to inspire them to DIY, and try to teach those processes that may help them achieve success. If you don't appreciate those qualities in a forum member, then perhaps you need to leave.

Mac out.

But you come across as sanctimonious, smug and sarcastic in your posts. This was a perfectly good thread now spoiled. That's down to you.

I was enjoying this thread too...I have to say though, it didn't sound like trolling to me, if it was it was very subtle, is there some history here or something?

The posts were polite/informative/educational...is it against 'build thread etiquette' to post such comments on someone else's build thread? Anyway, back to the build please ! smile

I guess the days of letting the results speak for themselves is long gone, it's all about the blogging and bullst these days....

Those of you who had their fun spoil't must ask for what reasons you were here. I suspect your enjoyment came from berrating 'outsiders' or watching bullies berate people. I've dealt with bullies my entire life and understand they are validated by their minions comments.

I used the name Bazinga because I could see Simon on the forum. I truly was facinated by Frank's build and wanted to befriend him (if that possible). If I posted under my usual forum name, Simon would have quickly scuttled that effort. I reached out, and Frank slapped my hand away. That's a bully... pur and simple. So history with Simon... Yes. History with Frank... None. Did I have some dastardly motive here... No. I just enjoy talking cars and how to do things. Simon and I have our issues and I won't bore you with them, but suffice it to say our issues came about on my build threads... Not his (as most of you know... there are none.)

People who know me understand that I'm not intimidated by forum bullies, and respect forum members until they draw first blood. Frank's embarrassment yesterday, and subsequent departure came not from me, but from those berated members who stuck up for the little guy Frank was attacking... me. Thanks mates.

Frank left because his minions were not here to validate his ego and sense of self worth. He was alone... and his fans turned on him. I'm doubtful he'll learn a lesson here as bullies don't change... They just move to a different venue, right Simon.

I apologize if I spoiled your fun, but bullies like Frank and Simon are here for different reasons than most of us. Read my detailed threads and you'll see I'm motivated to share 'how-to' information. I'm friendly and mutually respectful. Forum bullies want your constant validation in the form of 'You told him Frank!" to further feel like part of a team. Truth is, they are banned from most forums as theyre bad for business.

You be the judge. Are you a bully's minion... Or are you here to learn and exchange ideas around a passion we all share, cool cars. I'm the latter. What are you?

With respect,

Mac out!
