Anybody tried fitting a throttle body from 190 BHP Celica/Corolla to a 111R elise/ exige & were there any problems.

Thanks

If it's a 2ZZ engine it is a direct fit.

Depends if the car has a cable throttle or drive-by wire (introduced for MY06).

My car is 2004 which is cable operated. Does that cause a problem?

Not sure which one the Toyota would use - presumably varies depending on year as with the Lotus - but make sure you get the right one as there are two different throttle bodies in the Lotus parts manual.

Thanks James, I have been able to locate a second hand one for £45 from a 2005 Corolla T Sport so I can take a chance & try it. A new one from Lotus is £1015!!!

Got a picture of it? Should be fairly obvious which type it is.

04-05 are cable, 06 on wire... It will just bolt up, make sure you have the air bypass valve and TPS also..There is no sence replacing it without those.

Just to update you on Toyota Throttle body. Tried one from a Corolla T sport & it is identical but the part that takes the cable was slightly shorter meaning back to the drawing board.
Anyone know a good place to source a second hand one direct from a 111R

Post up a pic if you can.. The cable quadrent can be swaped if that's what you are talking about.

Thanks Frank, swapped the part that carries the cable and it fitted fine. However my idle speed problem is actually worse now, about 1200rpm so I will swap back to my original and live with the 1000rpm. Any ideas on how to get rid of the MIL light...code points to the throttle body and high idle. Do not want the hassle of trying another throttle body.

Hi
I had problem with MIL light illuminating on my 111r when fitted with induction kit. I think I just lowered the idle speed by adjusting the throttle stop which solved the problem - this was on the cable equiped model - not sure which you have.

Adjust the throttle stop set screw and make sure you are not too tight on the throttle cable adjustment.... A good OBD2 scaner will erase the check engine light if needed.
