if you mean is there a car made without a servo but with ABS, then not that I can think of (would not be surprised if there was some EU rules on this?)
ok - I thought you might have known one that could be retrofitted to an elise (setting aside brake line mods)

??

if you don't wan the servo, just pull the vacuum pipe to it, whalla - no servo.

He might mean ABS still works if you pull the vacuum pipe.
Is that true? I guessed youd still have braking but thought the ABS would stop working.
Maybe scuffers tried it sonar

Eh?

If you pull the mac pipe the servo stops working, ABS is nothing to so with the servo.

I had assumed that Saaby was referring to the possibility of adding ABS to a pre-servo and pre-ABS Elise or Elise variant, so you'd end up with that golden combination of a firm brake pedal for easier heel and toe and brake modulation, but with the safety net of ABS. Scuffers' comment was referring to producing such an end product (no servo and ABS) from a later servoed car, but not from an earlier non servoed car.

Indeed I was
Anyone tried it?

Presumably that won't necessarily be that pleasant on a car designed to have a servo though? Had the engine die once in a Ford Puma, taking out the power steering and brake servo on a downhill motorway slip-road and getting it stopped was interesting.

Depends...

Most cars need a servo for a reason, elise does not, they just used one off the shelf etc.

Driven a few with the servo disabled, way more predictable, all be it heavier on the foot.

Is it heavier than the K-series cars if you remove the servo, or are the brake systems essentially the same bar the addition of the servo and ABS parts?

Yes, but only cause the MC is a bigger bore.

I was thinking that, yes... I would guess this relates to the ratio of master to slave cylinder acting areas?

There's absolutely no question that I prefer the brake pedal on the non servoed Elises, even compared to the very late Elises/Exiges/2-11s which solved the dead zone problem at the top of the pedal. The servo brakes feelvery out of place in my 2-Eleven - everything else feels pure race car, and then you touch the brakes and it feels like a Celica. Still love the car to bits, but it'd be better with what a lot of people call 'proper' brakes.

How useful would a rear engine ABS system (MR2?) be without a servo if fitted to an elise?

none unless you have the tools to re-calibrate it.
