You certainly can increase the volume of a car purely by adding to the tailpipes.

Try cutting the flared horn bit off a trumpet, it'll end up quieter. smile

Look at this latest effort, did it work? Did it feck.

Point of it is, if it's going to sound like a proper evil bd then those massive, heavy back boxes need to go!

I certainly see no reason not to replace them with something a bit more... well, small, really. But I don't agree that it would be impossible to make it sound good with them in place.

Pointless, perhaps, but not impossible.

From what I remember, that V10 has always sounded rubbish at idle/low revs anyway.

Well that is a first. I've never heard of exhaust trumpets before. I can see the next barry mod now...

Not very practical though. No wonder BMW ditched the unplugged route and opted for amplified speakers instead.

Where did you get your adaptor plate to couple BMW engine to porsche box? As I'm looking at fitting either a BMW v10 s85 or a BMW v8 s65 to Porsche g50 transaxle but can't seem to find somewhere to do it for sensible money?! :/

The person building the car isn't on here - we're just following the build thread which is linked.

Looks awesome - shame he didn't keep the exhaust lower though IMO.
