Hi Skaffen

you are right, I think I have been very lucky to own such a great car.

Funny the guy has had his grill re done, I have just done the same. I also got the front bumper resprayed and Venture shield added so no stone chips there.

Whoever gets mine will be getting a peach.

Good luck with the search. I still think the Europas are great cars. Every time I walk away from mine I take one last look back at it as in the flesh they really work.

cheers

There's an S for sale here in Sweden. I think it's available as the advert is still running. It's fitted with Nitron dampers and has 3700mil which is 37000km or 23k miles on the clock. Price is around £24K. You could take the ferry back to the UK and re register this quite easily I think.

That's the one Phil (Junks) sold back in May last year - I remember reading it went abroad smile.

You wont find a better car than the above, I had a look at it over the weekend and if I didnt already have a Europa I would have bought it there and then. It has all the right bit on it and is in superb condition

An S2 Elise (later 111S or 111R) with touring pack are a possibility,
hey Matt, I had an S2 Elise (134 Toyota engine) with Lux touring pack & aircon for a few months before getting the Europa, and the interiors are almost identical - but the Europa has nearly 100bhp more, weighs maybe 150kg more (but still <1t) and it's got so much more grunt low down, and far better brakes (the SE has bigger AP Racing brakes than the S). In some respects, a supercharged S2 with uprated brakes and a good sports exhaust would be a good alternative... but there's something nice about the rarity of Europas smile

I wouldn't go for the 134 engine anyway in an S2 - it'd have to be the 111S or 111R to get similar performance to my S1 111S smile. I agree about there being something nice about the rarity of the Europas and my preference is for a Europa S - it's just a question of whether one that's the right mix of price, mileage, condition and features comes up in the next few months! I think my max budget's looking like about 18k and there seemed to be a few options in that price range last year (more so in the first half of the year, mind you), so I'm hoping a few more will start to turn up in the classifieds soon. I had a test drive of a non-225 Europa S on standard wheels and despite the typical small flat spot in the acceleration I enjoyed the feel of it so an S w/225 and e.g. TD wheels would be ideal for me. I seem to recall you got rather a bargain with that SE you snapped up biggrin.

Lovely car smile - didn't quite make £25k then? wink

Enjoy the new Exige - be interested to hear what you think of it.

Ha Ha, biggrin - A number of Europa owners from the Europa forum had a kind of bet going that we could stick the cars up at a mental price and then others trying to sell their cars would automatically put theirs up for sale close to that price.

It actually happened and I remember a few went up around the £23k - £24k region also. I never actually had any intention of selling the car back then but I did get one offer back then where an individual wanted to px their hummer against the car so it could have gone but really the going rate for a nice Europa is about £20k.

I can't see them really depreciating much over the next few years as people are now starting to appreciate them for what they are. A few choice mods make them excellent cars. I don't think you'll find a Europa owner that regrets it or an ex-Europa owner that regretted having the car.

One of the best Lotuses I have owned, love the rarity & the styling & the power delivery is fantastic. It feels very quick on acceleration compared to my 265bhp S/C Exige which wasn't slow. As previously mentioned parts should not be a problem as the running gear is shared with the VX & the 111R/Elise S/Exige & between Chris Randall & myself we have the moulds for nearly every panel. My current one will be up for sale soon although I do have someone interested already! I was hoping to keep it until the one I'm keeping is rebuilt but trying to build the 340R & get the +2 restored have somewhat drained the funds a bit!! Its a high mileage (67k) but full service history & HPI clear

Got mine up for sale at the moment but agree they are great cars. Every time I drive it I wonder if I am doing the right thing selling it. Trouble is I need more seats...

I wouldn't be selling it if I didn't have another one to use later! wink

In the end I weakened and stayed true to Porsche... have just put a deposit down on a guards red Boxster Spyder.

Will do the Europa next but I think the Spyder is as close as Porsche get to the Lotus way.
