YMMV.

I had an exige s2 pp for 4 years. Doing about 10 track days a year. I now have a v6. Already done 3 track days.

Just. No. Comparison.

Weight or no weight, the V6 is twice as good as the old car.

...until it comes to filling it up with petrol, buying new tyres, buying new brakes etc etc - where everything costs considerably more, and parts wear out quicker. Weight kills track cars.

Petrol - yes, but only on track. Road miles about 10% more. No biggie.

On the rest we will see.

I also wonder about fuel economy. Recent reports for the V6 are quite shocking and combined with a 42l (?) fuel tank, the range is less than 200 miles. A couple of weeks ago I got 34mpg on a very calm road run (it was raining) and almost always see at least 31mpg on the road
Never seen anywhere near 30's in mine, must be driving it too hard laughlaugh

do u miss the practicality of the gt3 compared to the V6? Im not sure about the V6 as an everyday car TBH[/quote

Not sure if either car is practical? I had a cage in the back of the gt3 so the only real comparison is boot size which is similar really.

Ive owned or driven virtually every variant of S2 Exige, all generally very good. The V6 however whilst still having some annoying carry over parts that should be long gone is a different league of car. A 2 minute back to back test drive is all you need. V6 would absolutely destroy a Cup 260 on track and on the road.

I have owned an 2008 Exige S for a few years and loved it. Also tracked it and a 260.
Both great cars, but I was very lucky a few weeks back to pick up a brand new Exige V6.
Trust me on this sell your granny and buy a V6.
It's a totally different car to the old Exiges. On the road it's am amazing. The handling and ride are epic.
Not tracked it yet, but a std V6 is 5 seconds a lap quicker round Hethel than an old 260 Cup!
Not just quicker, it a annihilates the best of the S2's, and in my view is well worth the extra money!

Owned 4 previous Lotus, an Elise, s1and s2 Exige and V8 Esprit. Recently picked up an LF 1 Exige and very impressed with its pace and ability. I went away from the Exiges due to lack of grunt, seems to me problem solved!

5 sec's?

Must be almost negative laptimes!

Had an LP550, 430, bunch of 911's before picking up my V6. Round country lanes, very, very little would be able to touch it imo.

I have an Exige v6 2013 since new, I have had the ex430 bhp kit fitted by Hangar 111 costing £7k. I have done about 10 track days in it, including Spa and Ring, trust me when I say this is a savage machine that even the likes of MP4 12C, 458 speciale were worried about on track.
It is immense, and eats up an Exige 260 (my mate ran one at a couple of the track days).

I should add that I am planning to put it up for sale soon, as I have a GT4 on order.

It should be better. It's newer and far more expensive both in terms or running costs and purchase price. Compare like with like. I still think the S1 and S2 cut the mustard. I think if you told me that a 3.5ltr engine gave the same perf as a 1.8, albeit compressed, Id be more concerned

I went out in my friends LF1. Certainley felt as fast and compliant as my Noble 3R which is a big compliment. Felt much more stable than the elise based cars i have driven and owned. I dont care if it is a bit heavier, it felt way quicker, more stable and compliant than the lighter car which makes it a lot quicker in the real world. Some people think lighter weight makes it automatically quicker and better which is just rubbish. A great car and worth the extra

how are you finding the hanger 430 kit? Tempted by that. Might wait for the lotus 400 if that does in fact come out after Geneva.

Two years ago I looked at changing my Elise for a 4cyl Exige and I drove both an S and an RGB. I was actually quite dissapointed and ended up stretching the budget a bit and buying a 2-Eleven, which I loved and it felt like a step change in performance straight away. A couple of weeks later I drove a V6 S, and that felt close to the 2-Eleven in a straight line (in fact both are about 9 secs to 100mph IIRC) and very different to the 4cyl model. The other big difference with the V6 S is the ride and handling, which again I feel is a step on (more compliant over the bumps, but spookily less roll in the bends). I'm not knocking the 4cyl Exige, because they're absolutely great cars, but I think the V6 is a considerable step on in performance, ride and handling, in fact I'd go so far to say it's the best everyday usable road car I've ever driven. Way out of my price range though sadly!

That sums it up. It's no doubt a better car. However, it's currently at between £45K and £55K for a used model. An S2 will set you back between £23K and £35K. So its £20K more expensive. Like Rob my budget doesn't stretch that far.

If they were the same price I'd understand why people compare the performance. It's not.

I am happy with the results compared to the costs, completely changed the feel of the car as well as the noise experience (sounds like an agressive V6 monster now). The pull from 0 - 100mph is stunning, the biggest difference is from 100mph to 150mph, the car used to run out of puff on the long straights at Spa and Silverstone, NOT NOW.
Two of my buddies track 991 GT3s, and the ex430 can now keep up with them the whole way around the track (not just the twisty bits).

Is this a factory approved upgrade, in other words will it bugger the warranty?

Cheers
