Wanted: Elise S2 front clam

Well, that's December till now. just tried to push Lotus and the Coachworks about the clam today. They told me there would be a clam available for me in the next batch, now there are no guarantees.

Six months and more I'm sure. Maybe I can trade the car in for an Exige? would they take in the car as a trade in unfinished?

I had a road trip planned for June and now it all looks like there isn't a hope in hell of it happening.

Really disappointed with Lotus. It's the usual problem where no-one can take any responsibility and nowhere to turn.

If I'd pushed for the Lancia to be restored I could have had this on the road. I also could have had the Lotus part repaired / bodged to get by until a clam is ready.

Any Lotus employees here that can help?

I have to say the situation is bonkers. It's not as though this was a car produced in v limited numbers - it was their best seller. Crazy, crazy stuff. I've heard of people fearing supply issues on Europas, but never thought it would be the case in the short term timescale regarding the S2 Elise.

I have this stinking feeling that I'm getting put to the back of the queue because I don't know the right people in Lotus.

Maybe just paranoia, but obviously when you're in the right circles you will get preferential treatment.

I can get you one in 2 weeks (see profile) Not listed on site yet but we have it. See the blue K series on the site thats got our own clam on. Toyota & K series no probs.

One of my trade customers heard there will be no clam production for months. I dont think you are getting put to the back of a queue its just that there isnt a queue!

Thanks for the conversation John.

I spoke with the coachworks company. I believe Lotus are having financial difficulties which is why the supplier isn't releasing clams.

He's pretty confident that the insurance company will go along with it if I sign a disclaimer stating I'm happy with a non-genuine Lotus part. Which I am, considering genuine parts dont exist.

If they do go with this then please can you contact me back as I would like to purchase a hard top as well. You have one advertised in Titanium, same colour as my car

Couple of pics just to show it does exist and its out there! Just dropped a delivery off to a trade customer today. This ones a K series clam although its sat on a 111R. The Toyota version is obviously different.
