Hello, thinking of coming back to an elise and wondering about a series 1. Problem is I really like the ease of the short roof on my old toyota s, I know there is a conversion for the long tail mark 2 electric se just wondered if anyone knew of a similar option for the mark 1.

I expect the answer to be a no but nothing ventured and all that.

thanks for reading and any help, have a good day.

There's certainly no Lotus parts to do it - you could probably retro-fit the S2 front roof mounts to the S1 but everything around the roll-bar is completely different. The easiest way to do it might be to fit an entire S2 rear clam but it might look slightly odd. hehe

Buy an S2.
The S1 roof was a real pain on mine. Got fed up with mine.

Had an s2 1.8 and loved it swoped it for a 1.6 and really didn't like it, sold it after six months and lost a fortune on it as just wanted rid, for other reasons as well as dislike so thought either a s2 sc or a s1 for a bit of a change. The R really doesn't suit my style as like to leave in one gear and use the torque.

Think I'll keep looking for a sc or possibly a exige and a roof conversion!

Thanks anyway for confirming what I expected.

Might be worth trying an S2 111S (assuming your "1.8" was a Toyota engined car)?

Will take a look, honestly if not an s1 though I think a supercharged one might suit me best.
Will have to work out a nice design last one was a blue based sprint copy.

That's the good thing about the SC. You can either make brisk effortless progress using the torque, or give it full beans and let it scream.
