Thanks for the advice....

.....but I ended up buying another Porsche!!!

I was very tempted by a very nice 111S that was for sale at my local Aston Martin dealer. However, in the end I decided to go for an early 911. A little bit heavier than the Elise (still under 1000 kg) but also similar in that no power steering, ABS, no servo on the brakes, no electronic assistance - doesn't even have a radio! With over 200 bhp it should be fun without being too fast.

Not given up on having an Elise. Just deferred the purchase for a while.
Was this the yellow one in Harston next door to the Cambridge OPC? Did you test drive it? I have been meaning to go and have a look at it - very tempted to get rid of my C4S and get into an Elise instead!

Yes. That car. I did drive it. Seemed good to me (subject to a few things needing sorted prior to purchase).

Dont crash it, you'll be waiting the best part of six months for a clam and still have no idea if you will receive one.

Brilliant cars but the aftersales/parts just dont materialise ever.

I've had an Elise S2 1ZZ for the best part of a year (six months on the road) and as much as I love it (from what I can remember) I wish I'd bought something a bit more special. If I ever get the car back from the repair shop I'll be considering upgrading to an Exige S2.
