The S1 Exige is rather more of a nightmare to live with, though? I can't think the S2 would be much more problematic than my Elise?
I've not owned an S2 Exige but my 111R was no more problematic to own than the CTR which preceded it.
My 111R has been pretty reliable. Apart from when it decided to lock me out, I suppose. But I was thinking more that I have the same engine as the NA Exige and the same interior. Presumably the boot space is similar. Rear visibility worse, ride quality worse, but otherwise not really any less practical to live with than a Toyota engined Elise?

I have recently returned from being out of the fold since the loss of my 2006 Exige S in 2010.

In the interim I've had a 997C2S and a Cayman plus a few other cars, but there is only one that when I entered the garage would make my heart beat that little bit faster just because of how exotic it looked (and yeah the drive wasn't bad)

So after an absence of nearly 4 years I have one of the later S2 Exige 240S and everything everyone else has said I would generally agree.

As you can see I quite like the white version, but chrome orange would also be high up my list. For my smallish commute of 8 miles I am happy to drive it every day (although I have bought a second set of wheels ready for winter tyres) and I have over 10 years of ownership (and compromise) on an Elise S1, Exige S 2006 and Exige S 2010.

It is 4 seconds 0-60 which I suspect is a smidge faster than your M3, but yes you probably have to be well skilled to get 4 seconds (has launch control) and after that the grunt of an M3 is likely to leave it for dust on a straight!

You also have to get used to being stared at! They are pretty rare beasts.

Looks great to me too. I think white is pretty close to being my favourite colour now. However, as I always say, you covet what you haven't got. I adore mine and its not white, chrome orange or krypton green, the colours I was originally hoping for. Its only when I park mine next to another car that I sometimes get the 'I wish' feeling. Over here that doesn't happen very often, perhaps once a year, so I manage to sleep at nights.

Never understand Porsche people. Each to their own. I find a Lotus aesthetically pleasing in a way that Porsche isn't. I'm in a minority as Porsche outsells Lotus by a long way. Nevertheless, you sought of comfort me in my thinking, coming back to a Lotus. One day you'll have to write a comparison between the two and explain what swings it for you.

I'm also in the camp of orange, green and white being my favourite Exige colours. I also bought a silver one cos it was too good to pass over. Now the mechanics and interior are sorted it's time for a respray...

gratuitous pic alert of sexy wheel!

I popped some of these RGB puppies on for summer too now (change from MY2010 photo above). Helps distinguish it (side on) from my original 2006 on standard Y spokes. These or the Lotus Sport 7 spoke twins would have been equally acceptable.

I'll keep the Y spokes for winter tyres.
