I had this in the celica gen7, great fun it was back then over 10 years ago.

People then talked about Lift bolts snapping and to get them replaced. This was the bolt which changed cams and were only a couple of quid each

Is it still the same story in the Lotus to get these changed?

Personally in 6 years of ownership, never heard lift bolts mentioned anywhere...

I looked into lift bolts when I was having some problems. Wasn't that, but it looks as if Toyota sorted the problem ~2003 ish and the earliest Lotus cars with that engine are 2004.

makes sense then

can you guys shift and keep it in the higher cam each time as in the celica it was almost impossible and the only way people managed was an apexi ecu and changed the lift cam

Yes, just. The Lotus implementation revs to 8500, which is slightly higher than the Toyota version. It's easy to get the cam shift point lowered a bit with a reflash, though. I had it done, it makes a difference.

It's probably also less of an annoyance because the torque below the cam shift point is more acceptable in a light car. I'm not sure I'd fancy that engine in something a good third heavier.
