Hi guys - I have been considering buying an s2 as a weekend toy thinking that they would have depreciated, but shock horror it seems that a car exactly the same as the one I sold in 2007 but with more mileage is near as damn the same price now - what's going on????

Anyway, to my question - there aren't many on the market and most seem to be private (autotrader, PH and ebay). I haven't bought a car from an individual before and have concern. I know it's a bad time of year to be looking , but will stock levels increase much in summer or am I best taking the plunge before Xmas?

Looking to spend c. £20-22k and would like a low mileage a/c with limited slip if poss - n/a is fine too.

Thanks

Prices are relatively firm. I'd go 220s. Should be possible in your budget. Usual checks, history, condition etc etc. A well maintained car from a private seller my preferred option. Don't be scared, just be inquisitive.

Maybe it's a bad time of year as I'm not seeing many at all...the search continues!

Give it a few months for winter to kick in, more tend to come up for sale and for a grand o two less than summer pricing.

A grand or two off? I've only seen the price of the S2 Exige rise steadily over the last three years.

Winter doesn't seem to affect the price of lotus, prices just seem to stay the same year after year for good examples.
