Faulty immobiliser? Bypass fit?

I have been having an intermittent problem getting the (1996) Elise started. I've been having to use the touch key as that was all that came with the car when it was purchased. Sometimes it has started first or second time, sometimes only after five minutes of trying. Fortunately the intermittent problem has stopped; unfortunately now it won't start at all.

Is this a quick fix? If not (and before you tell me I should buy it), I have already purchased the immobiliser bypass but as I found out from some searching around, it is a bit of a mystery as to how to fit it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am sorry I can't be much help. I had a similar problem, I took it to my local auto electrician. It was fixed quite economically.
