Hi all, looking for a little bit of help.

Y reg, 2001 Elise Base. What's to look out for on them?

Will it have ESP and ABS?

I want to use one as a daily, but also have a Mini I can use if it gets too much. Are these a viable entry into Lotus ownership?

Budget is approx £13k and I'd like an S2 if anyone knows of any other decent ones?

Cheers

Nope. No K-series powered Elise has ESP or ABS or indeed any other sort of electronic driver aid. They don't even have a brake servo.

There's a buyer's guide stickied at the top of the forum which will give you an idea of what to look out for. For 13k, you'd just about get a 111S but it's the bottom of the market so you might struggle to get a good one. You're probably best off getting a "normal" S2 for a bit less money and keeping some money for upgrades/repairs. Or a VX220.

I'll have another read through that thread and see if it makes any more sense after a thorough day reading. Cheers.

Damn, I was watching that but forgot the auction was finishing. I'd have paid a little more than the final price too.

It's not been debadged; the early S2s all had silver L O T U S lettering across the back. It swapped to the green and yellow circular badge in about 2003 then reverted to silver lettering in about 2006/7.

Although lots of the cars produced in that window have since had the badge replaced with the lettering.

A good thing too - the lettering is much nicer.

I'm not convinced silver lettering works on a silver car, though. hehe

I'm quite surprised at it going for so little, even with that mileage.
