Guys just stock breaks, I did get them checked (supposedly) by the main dealer and they said that they were fine.

Fridaypassion, ha ha, sorry mate, the silver one just didn't have the same look I am afraid. Better upgrades I agree. Hope you shift it soon mate... or use as your daily biggrin

Its been retired under a cover now I was actually using it too much I dont make a habit of driving stock cars but the Europa just tickles that little thing you know the James May fizz thing. Love it!

Back in the Van now biggrin

New Cayman arrives Monday which should ease the pain a bit!

If you want me to have a check over of your feel free to drop in. If you have been to JCT with it I'm sure Byron would have had a good look but you really should not be having any brake issues with any S2 based cars. Might just need a fluid flush or bleed up? Better pads?

I remember my old elise s the brakes on that i thought were rubbish under hard braking and abs was cutting in too early. As i was new to the car i was braking with almost a stabbing motion to full power, once told to gradually build pressure to stop the abs trigger it was so much better. I dont know if this could be the cause of the issue but as with everything elise/exige/europa based you do need a lot more finesse than in a normal sports car.

Also brakes are truly scary if wet!

Regarding the brakes, the ABS control unit isn't the cleverest piece of kit on the road, and some owners (including me) have exchanged for the Exige unit.

Its a straightforward swap of the plugin bit with the CU on it (so just the top bit from recollection) and if you've nimble hands you can do yourself without taking the clam off.

The difference is light and day.

Previously the ABS would kick in on any rough surface road - which was a challenge...

Now its much better, never locks (of course) and waits till the final moment before it decides to kick in - if at all.

I recently pulled up with half the wheels on asphalt and the other half on gravel - no issues and great retardation

Don't both with a new one, it will usually need 'enabling' as well as installing - just find a second-hand from an Exige and bob's your uncle.

Interesting I've never found Toyota Elise ( I assume it s the same unit in the Europa) ABS much of an issue but years of driving VX220s is good training those units are borderline dangerous. Fitting a cutoff switch is essential.

The std Europa one suffers badly from the so-called Ice-Mode kicking in when on an uneven road surface - if the surface was even it was fine.

The Exige one offers much better 'threshold' programming and is a simple plug/play and can handle the unusual Europa wheel setup (same as the VX....)

The VX was a simple 2-channel affair - and you were safer to switch it off by all accounts.

VX is dangerous IMO. The turbo isn't too bad but I always fitted switches to my 2.2s
