This chap bought a smashed up Evora and is trying to get it back on the road for the price of a new Toyota. He seems incredibly dedicated and very clever in his skills. I wish I was that knowledgeable.

Episode 5 was good - I thought it was going to be like all the other car shows and the engine would fire up on the first turn. But no, it was honest, true and real - he had to fix fluids, bodge some electrics and make some temporary measures before he could start it up and even then it did not magically spring to life like so many other car shows. Sick of people making barn finds and then 'shall we try starting it' despite forty years of supposedly sitting idle and then it cranks up and starts without even a check of fluids, battery or anything - this is not the real world.
He is up to part 15 now on this. http://edukacyjne.5v.pl/prasa.html While some things have been bodged I wouldn't say it was unsafe, and its commendable that he has done so much of this on his own.

I know nothing about these cars, fibreglass, or structural rigidity. I wouldn't have thought it would be as strong as an entire replacement bulkhead, if such a thing exists. But once the sills, roof, and rear clamshell go on and all get bonded I wouldn't have thought it would be any less rigid.
Would people rather have a questionably repaired Lotus Evora or a brand new Toyota Camry? I'd take the Lotus out of the two, but again you could probably find something for Camry money that hasn't been rolled over.

Started watching this a couple of days ago and now eagerly awaiting the next episode on Monday. Can't fault his dedication or his enthusiasm.
Closest thing on telly would be Wheeler Dealers, which is good fun but given the format and the average viewer can't hope to go into as much detail. One of the great things about YouTube is getting such specialist shows.
Couldn't imagine Edd China doing a 40 minute episode just of fiber glass repairs.
Still you can't help but do some back of the fag packet calculations - $13k for what was left of the car and around $10k so far on parts with maximum budget of $30k. So around £18,000 / £23,000 for a 4000 mile Evora. It might be worth that if he came to sell though does ignore the crazy number if man hours he's putting in.

He mouthed off about the supply of Lotus parts being so piss poor, then promptly did an intervention show saying how he had got it wrong.

Yes that was a good one.I'm looking forward to seeing it all done now he has the painting done. I never thought he would find a roof for the thing.
And it's finished - thought it was absolutely brilliant (and bought a t shirt so my name is on the car, yay).
Don't like changing the front wheel size, and that subframe fix looked a little dodgy but prob more dangerous for pedestrians than the occupants....others just superb. Think the gae bumper looks so much better than standard.

Yeah agree with all of that. The wheels he got do look quite nice, but not a spot on the OEM ones.
