2 Eleven interior space

Guys, can anyone tell me if there's more room in 2-11 interior compared to an Elise? I struggle to drive an Elise as my knee gets trapped between the gear lever and the steering wheel. From pics it looks like there might be a bit more room?

Not really. It can be managed but it's a compromise. Ideally you'll want to be about 5'8"

I've just been out to the garage and tried it. I'm 6', with my foot on top of the clutch I can't get my knee to touch both steering wheel and gear lever at the same time (tried 5th and 6th gears). My seat is all the way back. There's no more room than I remember from the Exige, however the 2-Eleven is easier to get into

Cheers, the desire to own a Lotus is the only time I wish I was vertically challenged!!

Looks like I could mess around with the gearstick and the steering wheel size and get by.. possibly.. maybe.. Seems to be a few people bigger than me squeezing their way in.

It's not just leg room, it's arm room too. Friend of mine who is 6'3" found his right arm was compromised by the roll bar coming down on an angle to your right - at Snetterton he couldn't really try too hard as if he had a moment he'd have struggled to react properly, as his arm just hit the bar all the time.

How tall, and ahem, big, are you?

Too big by the sounds of it. 6' 3" too. Better go try it for size. Atom appears to be the only car of this type I can actually fit but I'm not keen on them.

Have a sit in, only way to find out. I looked at an Atom too but at 5'5" I felt swamped by it. Whereas the 211 felt perfect.

Might be worth investigating a slightly smaller wheel and a spacer.

I'm 6'4" and 15 stone and managed ok in my s1 as standard but going to a 300mm wheel and 20mm spacer made a huge difference. It's now virtually the perfect driving position for me.

6'3 and only brob in mine is getting legs under the shell when dropping in the seat,fitted a reverie she'll that's slightly smaller,prob gone

Unbelievably I fit in it fine size 12's included! There's more space than a current elise for me more arm and shoulder room and no real issue with the gearstick. My right hand is a bit close to my knee in relation to the steering wheel but I reckon a one inch spacer will solve that completely.

What an utterly stunning car can't believe how supple it is on the road too.

Ah Scotts Walkers second 211. Very nice and hasn't had a hard life. My old one is at JCT but has had a slightly harder life, though immaculately maintained.

I think I may have seen you and your car refuelling at tangmere services just outside of goodwood a couple of years back. That car and a red one I see at goodwood were the two reasons I've been after one for ages

Never bothered to try one before as just assumed like the Elise there was no way I'd fit in it. I live 2 miles from the circuit so mine will be there as soon as possible !

One of the other reasons I can drive it is due to the Elise having some sort of cover over the steering column/dashboard which isn't there in the 2-11. With size 12's my feet hit this cover under braking which makes it almost undriveable.

Is the standard steering wheel 320mm? Thinking of going to a 280 or 300 to just give me a little more space again.

Nice one. I loved mine and used to go to Goodwood A LOT so yes that would have been me. Enjoy.

No idea on the wheel sorry - mine was standard and as I am only small it was never something I needed to change. If you need any help with it I only live in Dorking and know Scott well so always happy to assist.

I have a quick release momo wheel on mine, will have a measure and let you know the size .
Pretty sure it is smaller then standard.

Enjoy the car it is probably one of the best drivers cars ever produced!!

Re the 211, before I bought mine I wasn't intending making a purchase. I drove one back to back against my old Exige. I couldn't believe what a massive difference the is. The steering feel is amazing and the braking capability insane. I knew I had to have one

Cheers all! Can't wait to get it. It's definitely the best car I've ever driven and I've driven a lot of stuff over the years. I was gobsmacked by it on the road so I cant wait to see what it's like on a track.

Another question. Is it right that there's no service book with these and that were supposed to use a usb stick but the system Lotus used didn't work properly?

Yep usb stick. System worked fine but you are reliant on previous owners having the usb.
