Ok my Momo wheel is 13 inches diameter , so about 300 mm in new money!

Agree with the comments re the brakes they are awesome standard , see your car has the big brake upgrade !
Must be like hitting a brick wall !

They are awesome on track but be careful when the back steps out at speed as they are very very difficult to
catch once they start to step out, all that weight at the back is like a pendulum (as I foundout at Bedford) ,
luckily no harm done !

Anyway enjoy !

Re the brakes yes it is like hitting a brick wall. You can only feather them on the road otherwise it's far too savage. Will have to see if I have the bottle to use them fully on the track lol

Don't lift once in the corner. If you must, just have a confidence lift before you turn in. I don't know who has owned that car since Scott but the first thing I would to is take a trip to the Lotus dealer in Henley and chat to Chris Randall. Get him to corner weight and geo the car according to your weight and driving style.

Then get some engine mounts. He did mine. Not the Lotus ones, get the removable ones. Search on Seloc for the selection. They'll help a lot too.

I made my own seat rails... this is a photo with my 6'-3" son sitting. He can also place both hands on the top of his head...so a helmet will fit in there also.

more on that here...

That looks great Jodele. Do you have any plans for how to make these seat rails?

I've 3D modeled the seat rails in CATIA v5 R21 and built them from that 3D model. I've generated sketches of each part and the assembly for the shop to machine the parts from and weld up the assembly. I don't have the sketches with me on my work computer, but I'm sure I have them all on my home computer. I brought in the seat into the shop to use as a welding jig. The shop assembled the seat rail onto the seat and tack welded it together. Then took it all off and completed the welding of the frame.

With my seat rails, the seat is 1mm up off of the floor pan... so no sound deadening will fit under them and the Sector111 sys.6.pack http://www.sector111.com/parts/track/sys.cfm will not fit under the seat.

You will have to use Elise Spares' Seat Harness 6 Point Crotch Strap Roller Bracket http://elise-spares.com/lotus-induction?product_id...

Im a big 6'4 lump and have driven Elise,Exige and 211.

All of them have been great for comfort, space and legroom/ driving position.

Collected the car today. Got to say I forgot what proper driving was, the car is just mental fun and intense at any speed. The sound of that high revving supercharged lump behind you is just awe inspiring. What a car! smile

Couple of pics. I sourced an eccentric spacer (Momo) for the car, works well at normal roads speed (raises the wheel) will see how it is on the track. Gives me a lot more room in normal driving but less with a lot of lock on. The Sparco wheel is 30mm smaller as well than the standard car, really good tactile wheel. Now to find a JPS badge for the centre! wink

It's not on the limit if taken flat at around 120-130mph (IIRC), so just don't put too much steering in and gently drive through the corner. As Stephanie Plum says, if you don't want to take it at that speed, have a confidence lift before the corner, not during it (obviously!).

I did lots of track days in mine, as did SP (same car!), so would be happy to give any other advice if you need it.

Cheers Rob will do.

I'm normally at that sort of speed in my other cars and use the same technique after I had a off there clipping the apex a bit too enthusiastically a few years ago. I got lucky and went infield rather than out.. I don't take the apex so close these days... lol wink

The nice thing about the 2-Eleven is that it has mild downforce, so doesn't get floaty at speed, unlike, for example, a Caterham or an S1 Elise. It's therefore much easier to place accurately in high speed bends. I do miss mine!

Helmets.. Had a couple of higher speed blats in it recently and have noted that my current lid (Arai GP6S) is lifting up at speed from the chin which is a bit disconcerting. Have several track days booked first next week.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Do I have to look at one with a duckbill or similar to get around this? I was looking at the Arai GP6 PED as I prefer Arai helmets normally but not sure it will work as well as something with a duckbill. Being tall my head sticks right up into the airstream and the little windscreen does next to nothing. Thoughts?

I can't help I'm afraid as I'm a short arse! In racing cars of course we make custom seats so each driver has their head in roughly the same position.

One problem that did big me constantly was how the seats clearly weren't designed to be used with a helmet, which for a track car is a serious oversight. I'm referring to the way that the non-adjustable and integral headrest touched the back of your head without a helmet on, which was ok because it held your head dead level. However, with a helmet on the headrest forced you to look down at the steering wheel, rather than at the road/track ahead. I was thinking of removing the headrest to try and alleviate the problem, but it was glued on and I didn't have the nerve!

You should be able to get a PED kit for the GP6S.
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/helmet-pe...

My GP6 came with a PED kit and does really help. I get zero lift although I have the slightly taller screen and lower, fixed mount seats (over 6'2"). I should remind passengers to do up their chinstrap!

Regarding Rob's comment on the seats, I have HANS specific seats (you can imagine the std seats don't leave room for a HANS device).

Yes, I saw that, I ordered one a couple of days ago. Fingers crossed.

Might look for a higher screen too. Going to change out the seats, what are you using? Want to go to a proper race seat with side head restraints.

I have the Lotus Carbon GT2 HANS specific seats, fixed mounts.

The screen is identical to the standard one but just slightly taller, it was an aftermarket option from new (I think possibly too tall for regulations).

Hi, did they come with the car or did you get them from Lotus motorsport? Can't seem to find any info on them.
