So I've been desperate to get my hands on an S2 Exige since selling my Elise SC a couple of years ago to move abroad.

I've been looking for a while and have until now been pretty much ruling out the later cars with the updated rear wing. I've seen one in the flesh now and it looks like getting stuff in and out of the boot (small weekend bags etc) would be a bit annoying and could potentially damage the spoiler (unlike the older cars where it's attached to the boot lid).

Sounds like a small issue but I'll be using the car a fair bit. Do any owners have this problem? Any thoughts on this or other practical issues vs a 2008MY Exige (or indeed an Elise) would be appreciated. Thanks!

The problem with the pre-2010 MY wing was that it didn't do much at all in terms of aero, and what little it did do was blighted by the fact it was attached to the wobbly boot lid and not an area of the car where it could create proper downforce.

I had a 2010 wing on mine and didn't have that much of an issue loading the boot. It does get in the way a little bit and that is probably made worse if you are on the shorter side. At 6'3" I could lean over fine but I can appreciate if you are shorter it might be harder to do so. Not bad enough though to rule it out IMO.

I have to say after my euro trip earlier this year I was astonished at what the boot can hold. This doesn't show everything that was in the boot either. My foot pump, tools, 3 pairs of shoes and large jacket all squeezed in there too.

I was taking this lot in & out daily during my trip and it honestly wasn't all that bad at all once I worked out where each item fitted best. A little like a jigsaw puzzle.

As already mentioned being tall surely helps a little bit if you are talking about just putting one or two bags in the boot then you shouldn't have an issue. In any case you can avoid reaching over the spoiler buy simply leaning over the rear quarter.

I swapped the boot mounted spoiler on my Exige for the clam mounted APR one, and, despite not being on the tall side it does not really bother me. The APR is not endplate mounted though so I can reach round and under the sides to get the the very back off the boot should something slides there.

My one niggle is that the GF insists on using it as a 'table' to rummage through her handbag on from time to time rolleyes

It can be swapped over to 2010 spec easy enough but as you say, having to lean over it does make boot access somewhat awkward.

No issue in terms of what you can fit in the boot. We did Le Mans for 2 with 2 tents, camping chairs etc etc no problem

Thanks for all the replies folks! Some good advice. Mike - that's an impressive amount of stuff you've managed to fit in there...
