Headlamp motor won't stop running...any ideas?

Evening all,
So I'm replacing a duff headlamp motor on my Series 3 with a recon unit from Rimmer Bros (i.e. a TR7 unit, I believe they are interchangeable)...I've just plugged it in and it works, but it won't stop turning. Is that relay problem, or something else? NB: I didn't actually fit it fully to the pod, but I don't think it's a mechanical connection that stops it running..? Any ideas welcome!
