as a extra you can turn them away from the microphone db testers on a track, if those stand only on 1 side of a track.

I'm hoping not the need them as the QP exhaust is pretty quiet already. It'll only be for Thruxton and maybe Goodwood that I'll need to carry them as a backup.

Test fit of the 2bular 350mm track cans to compliment the already much quieter QP system.

Interested to read your thread...I'm about to be on my second Alfa QV and 3rd V6 Exige, so we have similar (good) taste!

It's a 430, and i would prefer to keep the standard exhaust, as there are no noise restrictions at Knockhill...
Won't need super quiet (e.g. Goodwood), but maybe trips to places like Silverstone.
Can the Tubular track cans go on top of standard system, and is that enough to get to sensible dB? Cheers

I believe that Maidstone Sports Cars are coming up with a similar solution for the standard exhaust, I’m in the same boat, don’t want to lose the “sound of thunder” but want to be track day compliant.

Yeah, I was looking at the Maidstone solution but gave up asking. I'm not sure it'll get you through many off the major noise restrictions though. Might be ok for 105 days but that's it, we'll see what comes of it.

Well given all the good weather we`ve been having in the East of England, I`ve unbolted my hardtop and have loved the even harder edged sound. I like it so much that I want to fit a soft top for the rest of the summer. I`ve heard of people retro fitting the soft top, can anyone advise where I`d buy one from ready to fit or do I have to go to my local Lotus specialists for fitting?

I`m very aware of the speed limitations without a roof having experienced my previous Exige roadster go light at approximately 140mph without the roof...won`t be doing that again!

Lovely looking 410, very nice.

I believe most dealers will do the conversion. Hoffman's have some prices.

I converted mine last year - I'd forgotten just how great it is in a lotus with the roof off. Do it.

I ordered the soft top and kit through Lotus but at the time there was something like a 10 week wait as there were loads on back order. Anyway - it was worth the wait.

Is it just me who finds a track oriented car that isn’t track day compliant?

Fantastic day at Thruxton with MSE. The new exhaust scraped us through noise testing at 89dB with the 350mm bolt on cans (93dB without the cans). Hopefully this has opened up a lot of options for 380/410/430 owners now we know it works.

A 430 Cup will be in region of 105db static and 107 on most driveby.

I managed to get onto Goodwoods 105db day on a Lotus day with some difficulty but it is virtually impossible to get through a static test.

Donington and Silverstone both operate driveby and you can get on track but you have to short-shift past the 2 main noise meters to avoid a black flag

It’s not ideal and unfortunately in order to get the drama/sound of the Titanium exaust you have to live with it.

There is no fix unless you are prepared to have 2 exhausts and switch your exhaust system for road and track

Which is what I'll do. It's a pain, but it will allow me to get the car on track and use all the power without holding off for meters. My stock exhaust will go back on in October and I'll keep it stock for Spa in November and then through the winter before the 2020 season starts.
