Exige or Cerbera
Discussion
Adeewuff being used to your sarcastic comments i noticed it right away!
I know that the cerbie is faster [in a straight line]and more practical but what is better to drive? plus the Exige is outrageously loud from every angle where the cerbie seems a tad dull from most angles in all its colours.
If you want a boot get a Mondeo Estate or an MPV for half the money no sportscar will have a brilliant boot.
Personally i know what i would go for!

You'd be wrong, The Exige is an excellent cornering race car, however to say the Exige is outrageously loud and the cerbie is dull oh come on! also is this before your fire up the engines? guess which one is louder now!
You can have sports cars with boots, m100 elan, Lotus Carlton (seats 4 adults, has boot), Lotus Esprit (I believe has more boot space than the Exige) are just some of the examples. Its horses for courses track day car = Exige, everyday excellent fun car = Cerbie. If the Exige had more power though I think I could live with the roughness cr@p boot etc. but I'm an x kitcar driver so I'm used to discomfort
Sorry adeewuff, I'm with Gargamel on this one.
The only time I have 'lost out' as it were, is on the run to Le Mans. But having a V8 Esprit glide past me when I'm touching 140 I can live with!
And the Cerbera that hounded me on the long straights was nowhere to be seen come those twisty corners and little roundabouts.
For everyday use in the UK, is it really possible or worth the risk to attempt to travel over a ton for any length of time?
I personnally hanker after an Exige (which has no boot?) but I think the TVR has more presence on the public roads.

Sorry to interupt but I am a 4.2 Cerbera owner and I was considering a change to an Exige but you lot have given me a few doubts. From an owners perspective I will say that the Cerb is not a car for the shrinking violet it is comparable to driving around with your John Thomas hanging out of the window.I have on many occasions been approached by people admiring my car,so in other words if your a bit of a posser it is the car for you!.on the performance front they are ballastic I find on the road super bikes are the best mode of transport to dabble with. You might not get past them all but I have induced a few wobbles from bike riders at some massive speeds when they look in the mirror and a Cerb is right up there back side (on the track off course)Was selling the Cerb might keep it now.
Oh and by the way I reckon the boots bigger (m3) than my Mundano.
cheers Steve

Or as I said previously, if you want a track car, get a Caterham as they are way more fun than an Elise / Exige on track, if you want a road car, the Cerbera is the boy!
On the thorny issue of reliability / build quality, I've owned 6 TVRs and one Elise and the recent (post 1997) TVRs were all better built than my Elise. I'm not sure I believe anyone has a leak free S1 Elise.
TVR to Lotus
Moved from a Chimaera 4.5ltr to an Elise S2. Love the S2, But, there's nothing like trundling along at 60-80 and in 5th gear and just flooring it. The power was just fantastic. If this is what you want, stay with the Cerbie.
The Elise is great, but both of us now really miss the extra grunt of the Chimp.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Elise and I'm thinking about getting the TT230 conversion in the future. Heard nothing but great things about this from the TT web group on Yahoo.
(My wife would still prefer the Cerbie though, so who knows).

I believe he was asking for peoples opinions, and as I've been fortunate to own both I felt qualified to give mine. Sorry if I was mistaken.
The previous poster to my message mentioned "untimate fun" and suggested the Exige, I'm suggesting that if you want something extreme, a Caterham is more fun.
Bertie, never unfortunately owned a Cerbera - have driven them on a number of ocassions and I do think they are a fine motor and have been tempted, however have owned number of Caterhams (not the recent hi performance models) - now have Exige (after ownership over years of various Lotus cars (12 in toto) - yes I'm hooked) and IMHO Exige is the most fun/exciting motor I've owned to date.
Ford do many things for other car companys it owns or has an interest in like Jaguar X-Type which has a chassis that was co-developed with Ford which is used in both the Mondeo and the Jag but there on they go their seperate ways[one the best riding and handling repmobile in the world another a luxury sports saloon] much like Ford and Noble.
It dosen't matter to a point who owns who because it is still Lotus desingners and lotus principles to make the cars but Proton use its mass market funding. I beleive Lotus was taken over [Hostily] by GM and sold on from there. Its not Lotuses fault they are owned by proton.[I wish Ford bought them]
