Ditch the existing airbox and add a K&N 57i Induction kit.

There isnt a noticeable power increase, but they do make a big improvement on the noise front.

I've heard that the air entering the 57i will be at a higher temperature because it is drawing air fron the engine bay and not the side intake and this can cause a reduction in power.Others say that there mpg losses. I hope the sound effects are worth it.

Go for the Hurricane induction kit, it takes cold air from the side intakes, therefore giving the noise you want but with a small increase in power too. Put a sports exhaust on with it and you could get an increase of around 10bhp I understand.

Thanks.
I've got the sports exhaust, a Chris Neil one, and i have an aluminium pipe going from the side intake straight onto the air box, ram effect!. I went for the K & N panal filter, and it sounds great with a bit more power.

Rob - Did you do the ali pipe yourself? If so how?
Does the standard airbox with K&N panel filter really sound noticeably different?
thanks
Jon

Hello again Rob,
I'll have to have a look at your system as I've just fitted my K&N 57i kit withouth the pipe.
See you on the 18th.

The aluminium pipe I bought from Halfords for about £12, it can stretch to just over a meter but you don't need this much, all i did was put one end over the small length of plastic pipe that comes out of the air box and fixed it with a jubilee clip. The other end i threaded through to the air in take, and fixed it here with nothing but sheer persuasion, its own shape and positioning holds it in place. This allows high speed cold air to be “rammed” into the air box. The larger the diameter of ali pipe the better, mine is 80mm I think, but you can get 100mm.

The K & N panel filter does make a difference to the noise, its deeper and dirtier! It also makes for smoother running of the engine.

On the 18th, is that in Milton Kenes?, a little far me i think, i'm based close to chester.
