Hi - I can now count the days to Elise ownership on one hand, but keep thinking of new questions.. The council where I live love their speed bumps - just wondering if these pose a problem for Elises?
One thing you could do is give your local council a copy of the Association of British Drivers document on how completely idiotic speed bumps are.

Then you could organize a group who makes it clear that they will campaign against any council candidate who is stupid enough to favor speed bumps.
Speed bumps are a perfect metaphor for government activity, they create the appearance that "something is being done" to deal with a problem allow these elected weasels to pretend that they're actually doing something useful.
I'm really annoyed by some at the local cinema - my current car is a 406 coupe - completely standard & not especially low - unless I tackle these bumps at 20mph + which is uncomfortable & probably bad for the suspension, they catch the midsection of teh exhaust. I had to replace a 1 year old midsection as it was cracked & I'm pretty sure these bumps are to blame!!

Of the top of my head I think standard clearance is about 140mm - which is similar to other small cars...
... surprising, but look when you get it and park it next to a mini or something.
Lowered can be down to about 100 / 110 mm with the correct suspension kits fitted, mainly done on peoples track toys when it's that low, road use and speed humps etc, necessitate a higher setup
Not too knowledgeable about all of this as I've only had my car for 6 months and have been too broke to consider anything really exciting since! However, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong
The only incident I have ever had in my standard car was coming out of a shop car park - very steep curb and lots of camber on the road, scraped my number plate (knew there was a good reason for having a huge legal one), and gave me sufficient warning to go and find a different exit.

Some people run their cars as low as 80mm at the front,generally track orientated cars.
I run my car at 120 at the front (130 at the rear) simply because that's the lowest I can manage and keep the car practical on the road, having said that I knock the numberplate off on a regular basis, but it's an aluminium one, so it doesn't really matter
Many aftermarket damper and spring setups don't really allow you to run standard ride heights.
