In the rush of excitment that led to me signing on the dotted for my 111s I forgot to measure the width (garage doors?!?!) Could anyone help with this?

Also looking for advice as a track virgin: How often are people changing their fluids (on the car!) when using it on track. I have some advice from the TVR crowd but something Lotus specific would be useful; Does anyone know of the existence of alloy stalks for the Mk11 Elise?

I replace my oil after two trackdays, I'm sure you could leave it longer but I do it myself so it doesn't cost much.

Also bear in mind that the doors on the elise are relatively long, and as such need to be opened fairly wide to give you the space to get in and out of the car in the garage.

Its not really an issue with the roof off, but it can become one with the roof on...

I reckon you'll need to top up with Lucozade in the pits and lager in the bar ... Cups of coffe are ill advised, although tea is a winner. I spend half my life in the toilets at track day events for som ereason anyway, so you'll need plenty of fluids.

As for the car then you should take great care over the brake fluid, water and oil before the track day to make sure they are fresh and at correct levels (patronising enough for you). Check them afterwards and top up/change if necessary. From what the Lotus guyshave told me previously the advice given here is spot on. I change the oil in the Griffith every 3000 miles and would only reduce that if I had done at least 2 track days within that period. Hasn't happened yet ..

You shouldn't be hard on any of the above. With Anglesey there are some heavy braking sections, but overall it is not particularly hard on brakes in my limited experience at the circuit. Wales is so damned cold you won't worry about water loss ...

As for width in the garage ..... don't forget to leave enough space to get out holding your handbag and curling tongs. I hope you managed to get some nail polish to match the Cobolt Blue. If not, apparantly Boots do some which is very close.

Do yo want me to bring your luggage or are you going to manage with just a toothbrush ?

Cheers

Mark
PS - Couldn't resist getting the first blow in !!

Massive congratulations on your first real sportscar Rob, can't wait to see it, drive it and let it pass me at Anglesey (in the pits)

With regards to fluid levels, check them but don't be worried. I've had zero problems with fluid levels and track days. Looking after your brakes is more important.
