could this be the new Lotus Esprit? I saw it on a Russian web and a italian website... looks very good me thinks...notus the elise style front and side pots...getting better all the time, and looking more Lotus style

It was also on some italian website and they speak of this...

So the 4.8L BMW V8 with 367ps needing 4sec to 100km/u and capeble of 290km/u all theoreticly ofcorse, but its a start and I think this would be the basis car...
Next could be a 450ps M5 V8 engined Esprit
And 2 years orso later maybe even a 550ps V10??? who knows...just wishing

I seem to remember reading somewhere that won't be that, as thats clearly on the Elise chassis and the Espirt will continue to have its own one. Looks nice though.

Looks more like Elise 3 series.

Whatever it looks like, I have no doubt I will want one!

me too when its gona look like this I don't mined if its badged as a Esprit or a S3 Elise/Exige
But I think it looks to serious/chunky? for a Elise/Exige and looks more like A Esprit caliber...Elise's and Exige's are more little boy/girl racers while the Esprit is more a caliber that can compete with the bigger sportcars(Ferr, Porsch, Lamb sort likes?) and this will fit in that range me thinks? so though it has on the picture some 240 cup wheels look alike's and some front and side style inlet look alike's its to grown up? for Elise S3, and to close to his big brother the Esprit?
Best of all its a familliar face of the Lotus cars on the moment, so I will not complane and if the end result will look like this? they have a new,"want to have car in my garage too" car

Well it's a Hans Lehmann picture so I would like to think that it would be reasonably accurate.

That is gorgeous. If it were below 50k I would consider that VERY strongly.

Lets hope so I realy love this idea and looks! I also hope the can keep the weight low and/or offer 2 types,
lets say, a GT wich stands for sporty grand tourer? for big distances in sporty comfort(more luxery items and weight)
And a RS version wich could stand for Road/racing Sport? for the more hardcore sportcar drivers with ABS and some sort of sport DSC(switchable) and as light as possible, some carbon and ligtweight seats(non elektric) simple or non stereo, so more a lightweight sportscar easy to put in for races(like a porsche GT3 RS) and that also as option has a fast peddle shift auto/box...faster then you good ever switch then the standard box and also will be quikker then, just like some other cars have...
That would be a nice idea
(hard to write things down in English when you only know the easy words)

I really hope so. I'd certainly put my order in. It looks more 'grown up' than the current Elise and better for it.

To me the roof and windscreen in that pic are off a Gallardo (or a Murcielago, looking at the mirrors) with the rear quarter windows filled in, the side vents and front bumper off an S2 Elise and the outside of the headlamps off a F430.

I'm right and you know it.

You also noticed the front and side vents are much bigger then the S2...so they look like it, but are bigger and the car looks more grown up! I like it...

Mr C I was going to say the same thing. The wheel arches and the butress are exactly the same as the Gallardo. Photoshop is a dangerous thing. Even so if thats even a close approximation and they can keep the cost down thats going to sell so well.

Yep, that's definitely a 'shopped Gallardo in my mind. A very nice looking one at that!

I don't think they'd have trouble selling them if they looked like that!

It's nothing more than a *really* badly photoshopped Gallardo with S2 intake and side vents...

Agreed - that screams "photoshop" at me. It is a posed photo and if there are going to be posed photos, lotus would release them itself.

That photo is a fake and I claim my 5 quid!

after a bid searching I found this...its sad...it can be a pfotoshop car, its one of the same photo set me thinks..though a lot lines and curves more in the Lotus! the Lotus looks way better me thinks...most lines are different...you have to look good

still, I say....I shout...MAKE IT LIKE THIS and it will sell
GTRene

add; still better then this Gallardo trying to go as fast through the corners as the Lotus

The big picture is a photoshopped Lambo Gallardo - look at the front lights and wheels.

The other one is probably also a photoshop picture, but looks like a fabulous interpretation of the elise theme.

They are testing

Spy photos: 2008 Lotus Esprit

Although Lotus is still cranking out new cars, work is also under way on a replacement for the Esprit. It will hit the streets around 2008 and is expected to use a BMW V8 for power while sticking with the Lotus mantra of minimal weight. Although this test mule was spotted on the Nurburgring wearing an older Esprit shell, the odd proportions suggest this is most likely a test mule for the chassis of the new supercar.

more news to come...
