Anyone know of a web site that contains the interior measurements of the S1 Elise?
I need to know things like:
a. Distance from floor to roof

With passenger seat all the way back...
b. Distance from dash to front edge of passenger seat
c. Distance from end of passenger foot well to front edge of passenger seat

Basically, I'm trying to work out whether my guitar case would fit in one. I really don't want to drive one, fall in love with it, only to realise that I really can't justify it.

Umm... You do know that the passenger seat in the Elise is fixed and bolted to the floor of the car, right?

I guess you'll just have to try it in a car and see if it works.

Interior space is usually not a problem, but with a top (either hardtop or softtop) installed then the door-opening may be your biggest problem.

Bye, Arno.

I had a feeling that might well be the case. Bugger.

I also think you're probably right about the door opening being the biggest problem...and I don't fancy poncing around taking the roof off every time I need to put the guitar in!

Buy one of those ugly jobbies with no body and the tuning pegs at the bottom. Forgotten what they are called as I stopped playing 8 years ago

Jim if the criteria for buying an Elise is the size of your guitar case - forget it matey and buy a Ford Galaxy - no probs there

or buy a pignose guitar, that might even fit in the boot....

shouldn't be a problem unless you want a passenger as well! - or you have a very big guitar case

what kind of guitar is it and how big is the case - I'll have a look for you if I've got something similar in my collection.

Jim, I think your biggest problem won't be the length, but the width of the case. The Elise is fairly narrow and you wouldn't want the case to prevent you getting the car into first or second, would you? If you can find a dealer with a suitable car I sure you would be able to try your case in an Elise. (I've done the same thing with skis before now)

Edited to say, but not with an Elise!

my guitar (in a soft gig bag) goes in no probs at all, no need to take roof off - why do you need a big bulky case?

I use the hard case because I found you get a lot of knocks when using a soft case, and I like to keep my guitar in top-top condition

The guitar is an Ibanez JS100, case dimensions are as follows:
Height: ~104cm
Width: ~38cm
Depth: ~11 cm
(Measurements are a bit approximate - only got a bloody 30cm ruler to hand!)

I could use the soft case I guess.
OK, if it will go in with either soft or hard case, would i really be pushing it to get a 100w 1x12 combo in the footwell too?
Dimensions:
Height: 50.8cm
Width: 29.4cm
Depth: 22.6cm
I think this is definitely a no-go!

I know it seems really stupid to base the decision of whether to buy an Elise on whether I can fit a guitar in it, but sadly I have no choice. I can't afford 2 cars, and I can't just give up playing either.

Are you sure those dimensions are right?

The soft case seems to be half the height of the hard case...

From the sounds of it you should be ok, but the best bet would be to try it and see if it fits before you buy the car.

Failing that you could always take out the passenger seat (4 bolts). After all you wont fit a passenger AND a guitar in there.

Otherwise there is always the luggage rack...

The second set of dimensions were for his amp

surfboards, guitars, the answer always seems to be taking the seat out!

Thanks for you help guys. When I've decided whether I can really live with an Elise as my only car, I'll take the case down to the dealer and have a go at wedging it in!

I had the same problem; I went from an Integra with enough room for a Quad Box, a couple of rack flight cases and a couple of guitars to what fits in my Elise...

Ibanez Jem with Roland GK-1 pickup
Roland V-Guitar VG-88

The Jem is not a comfortable fit and I have the roof off, I neither am willing to put it in a soft case, and now I plug the VG-88 straight into the house PA, so there is no need for an amp.

My reccomendations are:

1. Play big enough gigs so they chaufer you to the door in a Limo

2. Get the drummer to pick you up

if I can get a 1.6m snowboard (in it's board bag) in the passenger seat without taking the roof off, you'll certainly get your guitar in there.

Go buy an Elise NOW!
