How happy will you be now when a VX220 turbo goes sailing past :-( and only costing (£26,000). I have sold my elise and have been looking at a S2 or TVR, but for £26000 and faster than a Elise why not a VX220, its still has a Elise Chassis. I know that many of you will disagree with my views, but Lotus have had years to find a replacement for the K Series engine. PLEASE MAKE A ENGINE REPLACEMENT NOW !!!!!! i have heard all the rumours about a V6, but they are just RUMOURS!!!

A p***ed off Lotus Fan

How happy will you be if you bought a Z4 or a Boxter and a VX T spits rubber on your bonnet? Oh, I forgot: you bought the car for the badge.
So why took BMW the 1.9 Z3 out of production? So why doesn't Lotus take the Elise - K-series out of production? Oh, I forgot...the heritage...the Lotus tradition of being first in F1 innovations and late with competitive road-going cars?
How come the people at Vauxhall and the people at Brandes & Dschüdow take less time to introduce a competitive new design? We need the new engine now. Sweden 1 couldn’t have said it more condensed:
NEW ENGINE OR ELSE !!
Choose: Badge or Boost?
For everybody that chooses badge: get ready to clean the rubber off, every time you meet a VX T.

Who cares FFS ? :-)

I didnt buy my Lotus for straight line speed!

For £25K I could have got a 1998 Toyota Supra TT with 600bhp if I really wanted ...you are missing the point somewhat ...go buy youre VXT if you so inclined......

Or alternatively have a word with those nice chaps at turbo technics.

Their beasties will match or exceed the VXT in a straight line and murder it through the twisties.

both are bags of shite bulit by chimps at the Lotus factory - all cars should come with a large holdall to carry the bits in as they drop of.
As for the K series what a bag of shite - I will NEVER buy another Lotus of MG/Rover product again.
When I picked up my S2 it was one of the high points of my life - an experience which was soured within minuites as bits started to drop off - the end off the gearstick and the carpets came up - as for the catalogue of other niggles and moe serious problems - as far as I am concerned Lotus can stuff any future car up their ass.
Going to buya TVR - just cant be any worse than the bloody Elise S2.

Before you all start moaning about my views please read this first:- VX220 turbo

200bhp and achieving 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds with an on-the-road price of £25,495.

With a maximum torque of 250Nm at 1950rpm, and a weight of 920kg, the VX220 Turbo can reach a top speed of 151mph.

I have been looking at a new 111s 190 but for £10000 more then whats the point, ohh i forgot it hasnt got a Lotus badge. But its still half an elise, its was Lotus has sold you out to Vauxhall. And 2-3 years they have developed something very interesting. Why is it taking Lotus 6-? years to find a new Engine.

I know this will piss alot of you off, but so will a VX220 this summer when it burns past. WAKE UP LOTUS !!

the VX220 performance credentials are very impressive but the styling is not in my opinion - and i sincerely hope they are going to beef out those tyres a bit- i saw a picture in evo and it looked frankly ridiculous on those skinny sticks.

I am well smitten with my elise and didn't even consider a VX220, bargain though they are, i just wouldn't want one. Nothing to do with a concious choice of badge snobbery, but obviously a car nut can appreciate that lotus means something and its nice to buy into that. Yes I've heard the old lots of trouble usually serious thing before etc but the car is basic, is great fun to drive, i have no probs with the VVC engine in the 111S (provided it has a sports exhaust) so i don't really care if someone blows me off in a VX220 by 0.5 seconds to 60mph. Besides, at the weekend I almost kept up with a murcielago up to about 70??? (;-))

There is no arguing the style of a car. Don’t buy the car if you don’t like the styling of the VX-T.
The VX is a Lotus design with superior handling characteristics. It’s not only the straight-line speed; I bet the VX-T would outperform an Elise 2 on any circuit. The Exige is in a different price range and cannot be part of a fair comparison.
“…lotus means something and its nice to buy into that…”; there is no better way to describe the value of Badge-marketing.
“the old lots of trouble usually serious”: I have to agree. I had an Esprit for 4 years and it cost me euro 1.30 per kilometer to keep up with repairs, deprecation and other costs. I can guarantee you it was not my driving style; there were ALWAYS new parts that required to be run in carefully. I spend more time in the garage fixing the Esprit than I did driving it. By the way: I never had to replace the same part twice. It seemed like a lottery: parts failed completely random.
There is no denial possible: the VX-T has a very attractive price/performance ratio; STANDARD; no need to fiddle (and loose warranty).

NO - that was the worst part of it - Its probably a good idea to buy them second hand - A good dealership should have sorted all the crap out by the time its a few months old.

Sweden, you sounds like Mike Mega. You even have the same writing style (for those who don't read the BCBBS, he's a troll that finally got banned).

Most of us have come to terms with their being faster cars out there, I'm not going to lose sleep over the VX220 T. If I really want one, I can buy one just like everyone else.

I had lots of cars overtake me today, if you'd been in my place I guess you'd have driven the Elise of a bridge in disgust.

You wanna bet?

Anyway rumours of an S2Exige are persisting. I'd take that over a VX anyday (rumoured to have toyota v6).

There I was thinking this board was light on trolls.

Mike, I know you've been banned from most every other motoring board so I guess you had to settle here, but please stop playing that broken record. I really don't care about you being here, but your mindless drivel designed to wind up Elise owners is getting R E A L L Y O L D.

Have scoobynet banned you yet for your useless trolling about Elises there too?

I'd love to see the Elise family get rengined. If they got rid of the Rover engines they could get importent into the US! How about an Elise with the supercharged 3.5 liter GM V-6.

Sweden1 (or is it Swindon 1, David Brent 3)

When the Moose hits a Liz, A VX or a TVR you are dead. A Vulva is much safer and all those bits from Ikea fit in the back as well as the moose for dinner.

Please forgive the questioning but it would prove you are not Mike Mega.

What is more common in Sweden Blondes or Brunettes?

What country did you once rule that tells worse jokes?

What is the Swedish roadworthy test called?

How much road tax do you pay for your car?

Away from city limits on a single track surfaced road how fast can you legally drive?

Away from city limits on a single track surfaced road how fast do you drive?

Where can you buy alcoholic drink to consume at home on a Sunday afternoon?

To the nearest 10 Kroner how much does a bottle of say blended whisky cost?

What day is early closing in most Swedish cities?

What is the ordinary rate of Value added Tax?

What does AB mean?

Did the blonde bird in ABBA really have a a*se to die for?

I made one deliberate error in this posting. A true Swede would notice this.

when i say its nice to buy into Lotus' heritage, I don't think it is badge marketing at all paulnederland, you are talking absolute rubbish. Its not marketing, lotus = lotus and the elise is unquestionably and deeply what lotus is all about and has always been about. Marketing is about changing peoples perception of a brand - the VX220 being a case in point for Vauxhall.
