There are also different ways of telling the insurance company things, all honest.

re. Exhausts, When I fitted a stainless exhaust I told them I'd done just that, a Brook Kensington stainless exhaust, expeced power gain, <1bhp at best, probably nothing, they were happy with that, so am I, and it's on record.

versus, "yeah 10bhp the guy told me" . . . which it doesn't of course.

re. Dampers, I declared I was replacing the worn out standard dampers with rebuildable, adjustable ones, Nitrons, "does it make the car go any faster ?" they asked, 'well it changes tha handling characterics, but I'm not sure it goes any faster, no more power', ok they say . . . again noted.

versus 'yeah of course', again it probably doesn't

This is not being dishonest, simple realistic.

My next mod wil change the performance of the car, and that will be declared in a similarly realistic manner.

Of course, some insurance companies are ar*es and you'll get screwed anyway . . .

I'm currently going through the motions of this at the moment. My insurers were actually "appreciative of my honesty (!)". I quoted the exhaust and new airfilter system to which I received no extra loading on my premium - just a £15 admin charge.

I'm not sure if I get any updated paperwork, but I will be requesting a re-issued certificate which notes that I have declared the mods........just in case.

Thanks for all the comments-had the Janspeed fitted today. The difference is incredible! BOOMS along twisty roads but is still ok a mway at constant revs. Definately worth doing.
May aswell sell the radio now as I cant hear it anyway!
