Hi Guys, I was hoping you could help me. I am having a custom Tubi exhaust made up for a customer of mine with a S2 111S - the "stock" Tubi has the classic oval end pipes but the S2 111S has the sexy circular end pipes....
Can anyone with an S2 111s give me some dimensions on the size of the end tips. Specifically what's the diameter of the end pipes and also how long is it (in mm).
End pipes not to be confused with silencer exit pipes which "morph" into end pipes (if you know what I mean).

Thanks in advance guys.

Depending on how quick you want it.. I'm visiting my dealer this saturday and could do some measuring if you want.

Bye, Arno.

Think lotus sell a small piece that changes the rear grill to accept standard aftermarket exhaust fitment on the 111S.

Still might be to tubi's advantage to sell one that fits without the mod, as although its cheap it does look nice with round pipes.

Most of us our too cheap for tubi exhausts though

Janspeed offer a new Supersport rear silencer for the 111S withtwin round tailpipes, I think Owen at Race-speed.com offer it for about £ 276.00

Thanks for your help guys. DanH - you were totally right - I spoke to Lotus and they sell a modified rear grill to allow "standard S2 aftermarket sport exhausts" to fit the S2 111s!

have to say though, when I finally get back long enough to make it worth getting my non 111s S2 exhaust upgrade done...I'd kinda like round pipes instead of the ovals...personal taste thing I spose!

yep pics are linked below. Doesn't look as good as it might though as I took them after doing a 6 hour drive through the best roads in Essex

Very ah-ha take on me Had to mix up the background a bit and it was the best I could find in short notice.

You could get a bespoke made for less than a tubi btw...

interesting....have heard some very good things about tubi stuff (particularly hearing them in fact!)...have a bespoke manifold through exhaust set up on the diablo, but it was very expensive....any thoughts on who does em etc...?

oh, and your round pipes look much better than my oval ones!

cheers

Well changing the manifold on the Elise requires a little extra consideration. In the standard set up, there is a flexible joint between the manifold and back box to prevent too much stress on the joint. Its important to maintain this or you will crack your manifold most likely.

The best solution I'm told (haven't done this, so ring them before ordering if you go ahead, just to check I'm not talking arse!) is to get a geary (www.eliseparts.com) 421 manifold, and then a flexpipe cat replacement pipe or flexpipe sports cat (if you like MOTing without swapping). Also www.elise-shop.nl/ do these parts.

The backbox can then be whatever you like. Mines a Bell & Colville and seems very well made, has a nice sound and is probably the most expensive non-bespoke/tubi option. Other options are the Janspeed (which can have round or oval tail pipes), its louder, and has a bit of a resonance around 3k revs which can grate on long motorway journeys, but some people love these. There is also the official lotus one which is quieter than the janspeed and doesn't have the resonance problems I'm told. This has oval pipes.

If you really want a bespoke, go to www.british-cars.co.uk and ask about it as a couple of people have them.

Frankly I wouldn't bother touching the manifold on a standard engined S2. Might give a little more torque but largely pointless.

I have to confess to never having heard a tubi on an Elise, but have heard them on Ferraris etc. A 4 pot 1.8 k is never going to sound anything like that though
