my car passed MOT with LED sides and HID dip/main/lamps no probs.....and on the bit about adjusting them - get them done at a bodyshop with their alignment tool as per a normal car...then ask them to raise them up about 20% - the Elise is so low you wont dazzle anyone and it really works well ....had mine like this for 2 years no probs
My car is booked in for MOT next month when I return to the UK.
Will see what they say about setting them a bit high because of the low car... Whats up by 20% ? is that a magic type of angle that I dont know about ?
When I popped into my local MOT place to see if they could tell me if the lights were out, they just pushed the machine they had to the lowest level and said "yep they are out..." but I dont even think the machine was in line with the light level so I dont see how they can say they are out of line... I thought the point was to set the machine level with the lights, otherwise my concept of basic trig and angles would say that whatever result they see on the projection would be out and wrong....
The lights are been setup by Jude Performance before been taken to the MOT place they use, so will talk with them and see what they can do. Since my car is down at the 110/120 level, about a low as it goes without killing the front on humps....
Will be getting some LED sidelights, to be fitted while the alignment is been done.
How do you do HID driving lights ? ( or is that on an S1 ? I recall eliseshop not having a HID for the S2 driving lights ?? )

I bought a generic kit designed for driving lamps (more shallow) from a UK based on-line site....but I cant remember it now ....the kit was similar price ....then aim the driving lamps like proper long reach rally spots ...with dip/main/driving lamps on it really is as good as daylight ......

Gooby, go turn the radio on and see if it works... or are you afraid?
OK - Radio. DAB is unaffected. FM has a slight crackle when the lights are on. It is noticeable but not irritating. I did mount the PSU as low and as forward as possible. Just behing the area for the oil coolers. I have not tried MW or AM - why would I care? Is there anything on MW & AM?.
The light is fantastic. Like all HID's it takes a few seconds to "warm up" but that is not a problem. For flashing I have the main beams and aux lights.

These will be the LEDs you want:

Remember that they are polarity dependant unlike standard bulbs - if they don't work when fitted, simply remove, turn over and refit Test this before putting everything back together again though!

I'm thinking of having the HID conversion performed on dip and main, but I'm also thinking of getting LED sidelights so the colours match.
However, I've noticed the link states that LEDs can melt if placed too near the lamp...
Has anyone encountered problems with their LED sidelights melting with HIDs?
If I leave the halogen sidelights in, is there a noticeable colour difference with HID dip?
Is there a difference with HID main?
Also, what sized bulbs are used for the driving (spot) lights? Can I perform an HID conversion on the driving lights by simply buying an additional pair of HID ballasts and the correctly sized driving bulbs?
