Crikey! now that's what I call a rip-off. I can only assume that that is all down to tax?

Why dont you just do what people do in england and drive arround in one bought/registered in poland?
I've not seen any Europas being driven in this country with Polish plates? wink

JJ

PS What a great colour - the best for the Europa IMO yum

I have one, in the best colour too, Canyon Red
as the car for sale in Norway. I do not know why people do not like them as mine is fantastic. Was thinking of th Exige s but got the Europe instead due to the comfort. 7 hours driving a day is easy...

What are your thoughts on the depreciation? Did you buy yours new?

Most people that have driven the upgraded cars (asside from the press) seem to be liking them.

Yes, it's all about taxes. I'm considering to get a 2005/2006 from the US in the summer, that's not quite as bad, will cost me at least £33k. That's about the same as a 2002 Honda S2000 or a 2000 Porsche Boxster (not S) which are the alternatives at the moment. The good thing is Lotus cars are very rare here and hence depreciation is very low. I'll looking for around £26k for my 2001 S2 Race Tech which I bought for £28k in June 2005.

Some guys with Nissan Skylines, Corvettes etc. here in Norway don't bother to pay the taxes and drive around with plates intentionally meant for temporarily use before registration etc. Of course that is not legal and unfortunately it is very visible driving around and so they get stopped in almost every police control around. Not to mention they will be in deep sh*t if i.e. they're involved in an accident. Worst case, driving around in a car not being allowed to use on the road will cause no payment from the insurance company. Bottom line that's not something I would like to risk.

Bought new last april and have no intention of selling, I have a custom interior (Black and Cream)together with the latest 08 dash (senosoft- not leather)and the power update. It is now a very fast car. The problem with the standard 07 engine map was the lack of power low down did not suit the gearbox ratios (changing gear dropped you out of the power band unless you used all the rev range), all i need now is a tubular exhaust!

Sounds nice. Please post some pics. Thorney claim that their milltek exhaust gives and extra 25bhp on it's own. Maybe you should contact them.

To be honest, I have not seen or heard of any europas that have the dash painted with sensosoft. I think leather would be a better bet with the sensosoft only used for the parts of the dash that "cant" be clad in leather (like the airbag cover)

The interior of mine is cream leather (black stitching) with the sensoft finish on the dash. I have seen both finishes on the dash and there is not much in it. Origianlly I wanted the stitched leather but had no choice as I bought my car second hand. However to some people the stitched leather does look pretty fussy as the rest of the interior has a lot of details on it already. I think this is especially true if you have light colour leather and dark stitching.

Ya, it's kind of a bit confusing as to exactly what is and isnt included with these. Your's is very nice though.

What I would really like (very individual to me though) is a custom interior trimmed in black carbon leather and blue alcantara with no contrasting stitching. That is the colour combo (on a black car) that I had on my old S1 elise 160 and is more typical to the 135r cars.

I have been thinking about selling my Seven and Elan and buying a Europa.
This one is local and seems like a good price, can anybody tell me if it is the latest spec or and older version??
Thanks

Rae,

If its a 57 reg. then it should be the latest spec. My understanding was that Lotus had standardised the 225bhp upgrade across the board, so I'm not sure why it's been listed as 197... maybe a typo?

It won't have the luxury leather interior though...might be a good bargaining point to have it retrospectively fitted?

Let us know how you get on smile

They have not standardised the 225 as standard, its still an extra but you can negotiate as no one should buy one without it. That looks like a boggo Europa. It needs to have the new interior retro fitted and the upgrade, which isnt just engine; it is also bigger brakes. The interior package also includes darker 3/4 windows and body coloured grills and fog light surronds. Although, on that car I would stick to the black for contrast.

Thanks for that, I had a feeling they were a bit keen to sell it at a reduced price, They have offered Part ex for my Elan so i will see how much they offer then try negotiating or i might just look for a low mileage latest spec car.

thanks

Yer leave that one alone as I've got my eye on it for my wife, I'll just negotiate with them to upgrade the power in with the price

Well you can't be clearer than that! laugh

TBH, if I was looking at getting one (which is a distinct possibility) I'd want the power, brake and interior upgrade AND a price cut wink

Either way I'll probably be looking at test drives around March/April time

ha ha!!! That was a mad statement!!!

As for your wish, its doable, look for cars that are in stock but not yet registered or, obviously, demos - there are deals to be done!! Getting mine at beginning of March with power, brake and interior upgrade. In that spec it is a great car, much better than the Elise and more usable than the exige. Then off to Thorney to get the geometry altered...
